SUMMARY:

The National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) seeks a collaborative and adaptable Director of Volunteer Stewardship who will work to support and advance the directives of NCHC’s various committees, special interest groups and regional programs. This key position involves community and volunteer development, administrative functions, and strategic guidance among committee leaders ensuring alignment with NCHC vision and mission. This position calls for as needed travel to organization programs/conferences, and/or to NCHC HQ, currently located in Lincoln NE. Remote work and hybrid work arrangements are possible.

ABOUT NCHC:

The National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) focuses on supporting honors education among colleges and universities. It serves as a professional association for honors programs and colleges and students, providing resources, support, and networking opportunities for educators involved in honors education. NCHC aims to advance honors education by fostering collaboration among honors programs, sharing best practices, and promoting excellence in teaching and learning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between committee leaders, their members and the NCHC Executive Director.
  • Cultivate a sense of community among committee leaders and members while fostering collaboration and communication across committees.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date record of all committee activities, decisions, and initiatives to regularly circulate reports identifying progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Collaborate with committee leaders to align initiatives and activities with NCHC strategic goals while upholding NCHC’s mission and values in all stewardship activities.
  • Provide operational guidance to committee leaders via trainings and regular forums to ensure volunteers are well-equipped to fulfill their roles effectively.
  • Collaborate with committee leaders in planning and executing in person and virtual programs.
  • Assist in developing and refining committee charters, objectives, and procedures.
  • Ensure successful committee operations by providing administrative support as needed to committee leaders assisting in meetings, goal-setting and annual reporting.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Volunteer Stewardship role and the NCHC strategic plan based on organization growth and needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Two to three years of proven experience in Volunteer Stewardship and community development.
  • Priority is given to candidates with Non-Profit experience adjacent to college or university infrastructure.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to adapt to evolving responsibilities and organizational needs.
  • Technical skills required: Proficiency in membership database/AMS systems (Your Membership), Microsoft Suite, Zoom, Monday.com, and Informz.
