SUMMARY:

The Los Angeles Mission Workforce Development (LAM-WFD) Program and Urban Training Institute (UTI) provide innovative, diverse, and equitable Workforce Development and training designed to increase access and opportunity to skill development, quality jobs, and economic advancement for re-entry, justice-impacted, and homelessness populations in the greater Los Angeles region.

 

The Director ofWorkforce Development and Los Angeles Mission Urban Training Institute (UTI) is responsible for leading employer hiring, community referral, and training partnerships interested in fair change hiring practices. Candidates are to demonstrate Christ-like behavior and attitude in all duties and responsibilities. And maintain a personal testimony in attitude and action consistent with the Word of God, with all internal and external stakeholders.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Leadership & Development

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the LAM-WFD strategic plan with emphasis on Fair Chance Hiring practices.
  • Direct all Workforce Development efforts in compliance with all outstanding grant-related requirements, including developing strong, ongoing partnerships with area employers that hire re-entry and justice-involved populations.
  • Deliver insights by applying expertise in career readiness, Workforce Development, and the presentation of data to inform and influence key decisions about the growth and performance of Workforce Development related to grant deliverables.
  • Oversee the development and operations of all new contacts with external organizations involving employment partnerships, organizational contracts, and career development opportunities for all target populations served under the auspices of the Los Angeles Mission.
  • Interface with representatives of the community, governmental, industrial, private, and non-profit employment sectors.
  • Leads, develops, coordinates, integrates, analyzes, and maintains integrated plans and schedules for complex projects, programs, and change-driven activities.
  • Effectively analyze client data and trends and identify opportunities to improve both program and community client experience.
  • Prepare routine daily, weekly, and monthly results with an analysis of current Workforce Development and training outcomes and trends.
  • Compile statistical reports on programs/services with emphasis on grant-related inputs and outcomes, including evaluation with proficient results at the end of each quarter and writing up progress reports.
  • Provide leadership for the staff and the development of the UTI for Mission program residents.
  • Oversee departmental policies and procedures, prepare regular reports, and collect and analyze research data relevant to the career planning and placement of students and alumni of Mission recovery programs.
  • Oversee maintenance of all LAM-WFD & UTI program courses and curriculum, including administration of all training workshops, seminars, and other presentations to students, staff, employers, and alumni groups in collaboration with other departmental leaders.
  • Direct planning and implementation of innovative and forward-thinking signature certification programs for students, graduates, and grant referrals, including working closely with grant partnerships to develop an array of programs for the target population.
  • Work across all Mission departments to leverage relationships to create job opportunities, recruit volunteers, enhance advocacy, and support Programs, Development, and Social Media efforts.
  • Oversees planning of job fairs and on-campus recruiting events.

 

Supervisory

  • Supervise all LAM-WFD staff.
  • Oversee management of all workforce interns and volunteers.

 

Budgetary

  • Assist in the development of a budget, supervise expenditures, and maintain fiscal responsibility.
  • Develop short- and long-range operating plans, including budgets, programs and services, personnel, technology/other equipment, and space.

 

Marketing

  • Networking and building professional relationships with members of the institution and the community.
  • Development and maintenance of all departmental brochures, PR, or media material up to date.
  • Represent Mission in various professional organizations and address a wide range of constituencies as chief spokesperson for Mission?s workforce, educational, and career services.
  • Elevate the Mission?s brand career readiness, job placement, and overall Workforce Development in collaboration with executive leadership, involving online content, social media platforms, and print publications in alignment with the annual budget.
