Job description

The Director of theVisual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) is responsible for the general management of the college’s two theater venues in support of College events and the theater rental program. This position oversees a revenue-generating department and assists in the development of programs and activities that infuse Oklahoma City Community College with cultural arts events and activities that support community development.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum (5) years’ experience in business administration that includes sales and marketing experience and the supervision of multiple staff.
Minimum (3) years’ experience in coordinating and planning special events.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent leadership, supervisory, and team-building skills and outstanding critical-thinking, decision-making, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Intellectual curiosity with the ability to learn and master new industry-specific skills and knowledge quickly.
Proven oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to support interaction between the College and other organizations, state and federal agencies, a socially and economically diverse community, as well as with Oklahoma City Community College faculty and staff.
Ability to abide by established organizational processes, procedures, and protocols.
Emotional intelligence with the ability to perform with grace under pressure.
Proven skills in developing written policies and procedures documents.
Proven skills in budget development and administration, and the ability to generate financial statements and reports.
Ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to change in order to suit different conditions in an ever-changing work environment.
Effective contract negotiating skills.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, staff, faculty, students, vendors, patrons, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the office and OCCC theaters to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office or theater setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in arts management, business administration, or Performing Arts-related field.
Experience in managing operations of Performing Arts Center theaters larger than 750 seats that include a working understanding of box office/ticketing operations and Performing Arts theater systems.
Experience in the booking of touring arts productions to build an annual Performing Arts subscriber series.
Experience in audience development and patron relations
Administrative experience within the Higher Education or Government sector.
Spanish-language proficiency.
Required Training Work Hours
Generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with regular evening and weekend hours in support of scheduled events.
