The Role

As a key member of our Accounting organization, the Director of Technical Accounting will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and operations.

This position is a vital part of the Financial Reporting Team and will report directly to the Executive Director of SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting, and Finance Operations. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate across the organization, providing clear oral and written communication with internal stakeholders and external auditors on Technical Accounting matters, financial reporting, and accounting policies. As the subject matter expert on all Technical Accounting topics, you will be responsible for research, documentation, and the implementation of FASB pronouncements, as well as contributing to external financial reporting to support our SEC filings.

This position will partner with finance and non-finance key stakeholders on monthly and quarterly financial reporting and close activities, as well as supporting business decision-support analyses and other ad-hoc projects. Heres What Youll Do

  • In charge of the Companys Technical Accounting, including formulation and implementation of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.

  • Conduct analysis of complex business transactions, prepare comprehensive written analyses, and make recommendations to management.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for all Technical Accounting topics, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lease accounting (ASC 842). Take charge of the creation of accounting models for revenue recognition, lease accounting and other accounting topics.

  • Provide Technical Accounting guidance and prepare and deliver Technical Accounting training to the finance team and other stakeholders.

  • Assist in quarterly and annual external financial reporting, including Forms 10-Qs ,10-Ks tie-out documentation, as well as internal quarterly CFO review presentation.

  • Review and identify non-standard and complex business contracts, summarizing and determining the accounting implications and disclosure requirements.

  • Maintain and create internal accounting policies.

  • Assist in the Companys Sarbanes-Oxley compliance development efforts. Ensure compliance with the SOX controls applicable to the Technical Accounting and lease accounting processes.

  • Support special accounting projects and ad-hoc reporting and analysis.

  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree required. Accounting concentration preferred.

  • CPA required, Masters in Accounting/MBA a plus.

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in public accounting, or a mix of public accounting and industry/public company experience.

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Big 4 Public Accounting experience is highly preferred.

  • Pharma/Biotech experience is highly preferred.

  • Extensive experience in Technical Accounting, writing position papers, and applying Technical Accounting principles in practical context.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC606/808 and ASC842.

  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset. Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams.

  • Proactive and responsive problem solver with a high work ethic and attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
