Whole Foods Market is currently hiring our next Director of Supplier Quality Assuranceand Food Safety! In the role of leading the Supplier QA team within the WFM Legal Team, you as a director will collaborate closely with the WFM Private Brands team to establish and maintain due diligence requirements for hundreds of Suppliers globally, covering diverse product categories. This includes Perishables, Non-Perishables, and Culinary offerings. Additionally, you will partner with external product category suppliers, ensuring Food Safety, QA, and compliance standards. Your core responsibilities extend to working with the Fresh Food Production and Logistics teams to assure the safety and quality of products at our production and distribution centers. With a keen understanding of product specifications and testing requirements, you are expected to navigate regulatory landscapes, including anticipating forthcoming regulations like FSMA 204. In alignment with organizational values, you will prioritize Supplier QA due diligence, actively monitor industry developments, and engage in trade organizations related to Food Safety and quality. As a director you will hands on contribute to resolving critical incidents and be responsible for team performance, budgeting, and operational planning. Being a leadership position, you will foster deep relationships with executives, serving as a technical advisor and contributing to the long-term strategic direction of the organization with your ability to seamlessly shift between strategic thinking and tactical execution ensuring effective outcomes in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, and product compliance.

This position is based in Austin with intermittent domestic and or international travel up to 40%, candidates must be able to travel without restrictions. WFM operates a hybrid office environment in Austin requiring all employees to be on-site at least 3 days per week.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum BA/BS degree and 15 years of relevant industry experience, with an educational emphasis on Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Public Health in the food industry.
- Exceptional team leadership experience and proficiency in leading technical resources, preferably with a background in Food Manufacturing, Food Safety Consulting, or Retailer QA/Food Safety supply chain.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and training skills, along with a proven track record of continuous program improvement in a complex manufacturing or retailer environment.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously, coupled with computer and technical proficiency (MS Office, Product Lifecycle Management systems such as CMX, Oracle Agile PLM, FoodLogiq).
- Advanced technical reporting, performance tracking, and trending expertise, with the ability to travel domestically in the USA and internationally without restrictions.
