We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Superintendent to join our organization. As the Director of Superintendent, you will play a critical role in overseeing ground-up commercial construction projects, ensuring their successful completion, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, risk management, and leadership development. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders is crucial for this role.
Project Experience
  • An established history of successfully spearheading ground-up commercial construction projects is required for the candidate.
  • The candidate should have a track record of overseeing more than six projects, including projects that exceed $50M in value as the lead superintendent.
  • Takes a proactive approach to offer effective problem-solving solutions, conducting analyses of issues suitable for sharing with team members and the company. Identifies conflicts, incomplete data, and takes initiative to devise solutions.
  • Commands the knowledge acquired from formal education, external training, on-site experience, and prior mentor relationships. Demonstrates aptitude in trades like carpentry, masonry, erection, structural engineering, architecture, and other essential skills required for constructing buildings safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Scheduling
  • Utilizes scheduling software, pull planning, subcontracting planning meetings, etc. to ensure the early completion of projects and is always striving to beat major project milestones on all projects.
  • Able to lead meetings with project managers and superintendents to create critical path method schedules and provide regular updates to the schedule(s).
  • Understands the differences between schedule types: Macro, CPM, Micro/Breakout, etc. and how to implement and effectively use each on a project-by-project basis.
Building Envelope
  • Understands means and methods for sitework, foundations, soils, concrete, etc.
  • Understands all building types and is well versed in QA/QC programs to ensure Building Envelopes are not compromised.
  • Can lead a peer-review for all documents-Site/Civil/Structural/Architectural/ MEP/etc.
Safety
  • Director of Superintendent should have a solid understanding of OSC safety protocols and programs. They must be able to manage risk daily and anticipate potential issues, planning accordingly.
  • Collaborates with the VP of Risk Management and Director of Safety to evaluate and formulate effective safety policies and controls.
  • Prior project performance metrics demonstrate a robust safety culture and consistent adherence to safety practices.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in assessing project risks during the preconstruction phase.
Client Satisfaction
  • The Director of Superintendent will be sought-after by our clients and will be requested to lead their projects, making client satisfaction a key priority.
Leadership Development

  • Evidences strong passion for emerging building technology, effectively guides team members in these pursuits, consistently upholds high productivity levels, and readily dedicates extra effort as needed.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and risk management.
  • Proven leadership skills and a track record of developing and mentoring teams.
  • Experience in Procore software preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations professionally and with tact.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients and stakeholders.
