Stroke Program Director leads the development of Stroke Program across the care continuum. Responsible for all aspects of administrative and clinical stroke care; coordination of clinical and business development of comprehensive regional stroke center, and community-based outreach and education.

 

  • Coordinates the services of all clinical activities for the stroke patient population by collaborating with multiple disciplines to manage the clinical operation activities.
  • Oversees recruitment, training and management of staff; physicians, and ancillary personnel.
  • Clinical research, in keeping with Good Clinical Practice standards and JSUMC Office of Clinical Research expectations . Reviews current medical and nursing research literature, and demonstrates application of research to clinical practice. 
  • Participates in patient centered research studies and works with IRB where appropriate. Maintains CITI training to act as Sub-investigator when necessary.
  •  Analyzes population data and trends within and outside of institution to project need for education, services, and community interventions, Educates pre-hospital providers, community medical providers, and general public about stroke recognition, treatment. 
  • Functions as expert resource for transfer center; EMS, and critical care transport teams for safe delivery of Stroke patient.
  • Primary clinical resource to patient care team at all points in stroke care continuum. Coordinates the care of Stroke using a HUB and SPOKE model across the network. Identifies, provides, develops and maintains learning and practice resources for patient care team across the network:
  • Complies with all mandated legal/regulatory requirements related to obtaining and retaining Joint commission and NJ STATE Comprehensive standards. 
  • Monitors and measures care plan results and patient outcomes. 
  • Maintains a stroke dashboard of quality metrics; reports to Stroke council quarterly; patient care council and PQI&O.
  • Involved in the development and/or management of budget for program. 
  • Oversees accuracy of data, acts as resource to data abstractors; tracks, analyzes, and report on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested.  
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Complete all other assigned duties and projects in a timely fashion.

  • Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nurse license is required
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association is required 
  • MSN required
  • ACLs required
  • 3-5 years clinical hospital experience required, preferably in intensive care or emergency care
  • Neuro National Certification within 2 years
