Great Plains Communications is looking for an experienced Director of Security & Infrastructure to join our growing team.
The individual hired for this position must be located in Nebraska or Colorado and monthly travel to Nebraska is required.
This position will oversee 24x7 support and security for all GPC corporate systems, networks, and applications. Will ensure corporate systems and property are protected and secure from physical and cyber-attacks and provides regular education to GPC personnel. Will create strategic goals and allocate and reviews work of assigned staff across multiple teams. Will provide guidance, leadership and mentoring to develop the technical expertise needed to meet long-term business objectives. Will ensure required infrastructure and element management and monitoring systems are available, operationally stable, and whose functions and capabilities meet the requirements of GPC’s internal staff and all GPC customers. Will direct the prioritization of assigned projects in coordination with GPC departments and IT leadership. Will provide Project Management and leadership to project teams, including assignment of individual responsibilities, tasks, technical functions, and status reporting. Will assist with business process change management as determined by department requests. Will manage the Infrastructure and Security budgets, including vendor management, physical security, and internal procurement processes.
Duties include:
- Provides leadership, motivation, coaching, professional development and day-to-day support to foster an engaged work environment with a focus on customer service.
- The Director will oversee the selection, development, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and enhancement of GPC’s technology infrastructure.
- Assists staff in developing methods and processes to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and security of the network services, desktop support and user support functions.
- Stays current in technology trends and proactively provides technology recommendations.
- Will serve as a liaison including developing and maintaining relationships with other IT & Systems functions and other departments within GPC.
- Establishes service level agreements and monitors progress toward key service delivery performance indicators (KPI’s) or metrics.
- Manages the development and delivery of IT standards, best practices, architecture and systems to ensure information system security across the enterprise.
- Ensure that appropriate communications take place throughout GPC by facilitating/participating in change management & incident management meetings, conducting regular team meetings, encouraging an open-door policy, and proactively seeking feedback from team members.
- Manages the daily operations of the IT Infrastructure, IT Security, and IT Service Desk.
- This position will directly a manage exempt employees & vendors and actively influence leadership throughout GPC to assure the successful implementation of IT initiatives.
- Implements and maintains all network services infrastructure with special emphasis on the security and stability of Great Plains Communications systems and their confidential data.
- Manages and participates in the planning and implementation of Security standards, practices and procedures to ensure system security and legal compliance.
- Manage vendor relationships ensuring that service levels and vendor obligations are met.
- Develop, schedule, test and communicate the IT Disaster Recovery plan and Procedures.
- Collaborate with the CIO on the evaluation, allocation, and management of physical and financial resources and administer the hiring, development/training, management, evaluation, and effective assignment of personnel.
- Architect appropriate technological, procedural, and educational/training security practices that result in an appropriate level of information security for GPC.
- Works collaboratively with GPC leadership to develop and deliver a program to educate all departments about security and compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FERPA, et.al.
- Partner with all departments across the GPC to integrate security into operational processes. (e.g., Operations, Sales, Human Resources, etc.)
- Provide guidance and counsel to the CIO and key members of the IT & Systems leadership team to define objectives for enterprise hardware technology initiatives, while building relationships and goodwill through continuous communication.
- Responsible for relationship building, creative problem solving, and proficient management of projects, resources, and new technologies in a dynamic environment.
- Develop and maintain multiple project plans; define scope and objectives for technology initiatives.
- Prioritizes work efforts to balance operational tasks with long-term strategic initiatives.
- Monitoring
- Perform detailed analysis of the IT Security requirements and current state.
- Uses methods and tools to conduct vulnerability assessments, testing internal and external network perimeters for accessibility.
- Works with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with adopted IT policy and procedures, and legislation related to data privacy or security provisions in safeguarding specific information.
- Facilitates migration of non-compliant environments to compliant environments based on legal requirements, audit findings and risk assessment recommendations.

EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science in computer science, management information systems, or similar technical degree.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of eight (8) years of holistic information technology (systems, networks, security) experience in a medium-sized enterprise IT environment with at least three years in a supervisory position
Experience with telecommunication networks and services is highly desired.
