DIRECTOR OF RESIDENT SERVICES

The Reno Housing Authority is seeking an innovative and collaborative leader with a desire to make a difference in our community every day! The Director of Resident Services is developing, implementing, and monitoring services and programs to improve the quality of life for residents and encourage their economic self-sufficiency; setting department goals and objectives; applying for and administration of grant funds; evaluating operational outcomes; and developing recommendations for elderly, children, disabled, adult, and family residential services. Assure compliance with HUD regulations, applicable laws and RHA policies.

Examples of some of the essential position duties are:

  • Participates in the establishment of Resident Services strategies, goals, objectives, policies, and priorities in alignment with agency goals and objectives.
  • Plans, evaluates, and revises resident programs, services and activities.
  • Manages activities of Resident Services programs within established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates Resident Services programs and operations with other departments/functions of the Housing Authority.
  • Evaluates and modifies department operations to increase program effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Gathers data and prepares reports to assess the effectiveness of Resident Services programs.
  • Analyzes data and identify areas where there may be opportunities to modify programs in ways that lead to improved outcomes for residents and staff.
  • Presents reports and information to Authority, residents, and community stakeholders.
  • Research, locate, apply, and administer grant funding related to programs and services offered.
  • Monitors and ensures adherence to all agency and HUD regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Oversees and directs the development of volunteer support programs with service organizations in the community.
  • Oversees and directs the on-going evolution and maintenance of Resident Councils.
  • Establishes relationships with agencies and service providers in the community.
  • Represent the agency in a variety of forums, including public meetings, multi-agency collaboratives, Resident Council and Resident Advisory Boards.
  • Lead, coach, mentor and manage the Resident Services Department staff which includes selecting, training, supervising, evaluating, developing, counseling and, when necessary, appropriately managing performance in accordance with approved policies and procedures.

WHAT IS NEEDED?

The minimum qualifications for the position are:

  • A four-year degree in social work, human services, public administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five (5) years’ progressively responsible experience in social services, or case management in social service setting. A graduate degree in social work or related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.
  • Two (2) years of program management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in administering and oversite of programs designed to promote self-sufficiency or improving resident lives is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of HUD programs, requirements, and policies/procedures and/or grants management is highly desirable.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work as determined by Human Resources.
