ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Director of People & Culture will lead our organization's human resources and culture development initiatives. The Director of People & Culture will be vital in fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment where employees can thrive and contribute to our mission. This role will collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies that attract, retain, and develop top talent while upholding our organizational values and culture.

IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL:

  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop an HR strategy and cultivate an organizational culture that aligns with the company's objectives and commitment to racial equality and inclusion.
  • Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion by implementing inclusive hiring practices and promoting a culture of respect and belonging.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources and state/local employment law. Exercise judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources, demonstrating a thorough understanding of various Human Resources policies, procedures, federal and state laws, compliance practices, standards, and government regulations.
  • Continuously update and enhance HR procedures and policies to ensure their effectiveness and alignment with best practices.
  • Take the lead on handling employee relations issues, conflict management, grievance management, and investigations, guiding managers and employees throughout these challenges with consistency, fairness, and discretion.
  • Lead and facilitate the recruitment and staffing process following organizational guidelines and best practices. Working with the CFO to align on budgetary constraints and opportunities.
  • Establish a high-quality, culture-driven employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle, including new hire onboarding, employee appreciation and recognition, career development, and offboarding. Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding system that supports employees throughout their entire lifecycle within the organization.
  • Proactively address key HR issues to mitigate potential challenges that could impede company goals. Foster excellent relationships with employees. Partner with leadership to address employee relations concerns, providing resources and an open-door policy to employees.
  • Support HR initiatives by aligning the HR team with company goals and HR departmental metrics.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to periodically review and enhance the company's compensation systems and goals, ensuring employee motivation, retention, and attraction.
  • Possess a working knowledge of payroll processes and business financials, with the ability to establish and operate within a departmental budget. Establish annual wage analysis workflows to meet industry standards and remain competitive.
  • Conduct employee relations counseling and advise management on concerns and trends for all employees; provide advice and counsel to departments in various human resource areas, including employee handbook and contract interpretations, employee relations and performance management, ADA, FMLA, Workforce Planning, legal liabilities, etc.
  • Advise the CEO and CFO on employee relations issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for any workers' compensation claims, ensuring prompt follow-up from the carrier, timely communication, OSHA-compliant record-keeping, and participation in the property Loss Prevention committee.
  • Demonstrate commitment to EEO and Affirmative Action Programs and responsibilities
  • Manage the Human Resources team.
