Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the clinical practice, fiscal accountability, human resource management, regulatory compliance, leadership and staff development of the assigned nursing departments.
He/she collaborates with the medical staff and nursing staff to ensure delivery of quality, safe and individualized patient care and to support the nursing and hospital philosophy. The Director of Nursing is the liaison to other Department Directors/Managers in order to support patient needs. He/she may handle human blood and other potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials, which may result in possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or harmful elements. This position may supervise the assessment, treatment and care of the patient in the following age groups: infants/neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric. The Director of Nursing is accountable to the CEO/CNO.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current CA RN License required and BLS (ACLS and PALS are required if assigned to CCU/ED)
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience required; preferably two (2) years in a management capacity
- Has full command (verbal and written) of the English language
- Physical Requirements: Possessed the physical abilities, including heavy lifting, and perceptive acuity, e.g., visual, hearing, to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions.
