Job description

Summary: Responsible for direct oversight of the nursing personnel and AMAP trained staff in residential settings. Acts as resource for training, education and nursing functions in all settings. Develops policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provides orientation and education of staff as necessary.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Oversees the nursing functions of each program to include working closely with the RNs to maintain a safe and functional environment for the clients, ensuring medication management and health care under the direction of the physician.
  • Oversees the administration of medication by trained AMAP staff including 90 day and biennial reviews. Assists with AMAP staff training and supervision.
  • Supervision Of Nursing staff to ensure state codes and standards of care are complied with and updated as necessary.
  • Monitors and updates policies, procedures, and operational guidelines Of Nursing services to ensure compliance.
  • Participation in on-call for nursing staff for questions and direction for improving health status and medical care of clients. Monitoring safety needs - including medical, behavioral, and psychiatric needs.
  • Documents all service activities including collateral contact in a complete, accurate and timely manner according to Department of Health and Human Resources licensing regulation with Westbrook policy.
  • Oversees the use of Electronic Medication Administration Record (EMAR)
  • Assists in providing orientation and training to both new and experienced staff as needed.
  • Facilitates the implementation of the LPN rotation programs in partnership with the schools.
  • Serves as the liaison between Westbrook and partnering agencies (i.e., pharmacies, labs, etc.) for the purpose of education health and client care.
  • Assists with Continuous Quality Improvement program.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information and complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports Westbrook Health Services mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and code of ethical behavior.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately with a variety of individuals.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Work with staff, clients, and others in a professional, cooperative, ethical, respectful, and effective manner.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • AMAP certified or willing and eligible to become AMAP certified.

Education and/or Experience: Current RN State Licensure without restriction. Prior computer/PC experience using computerized Medical Records. Must have two (2) years supervisory/management experience. Prior two (2) years must have been working in an RN clinical capacity (required for AMAP certification). Must pass Criminal Investigation Background and DHHR background checks as well as post offer drug screen.
