Position Summary:
- Responsibilities for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Med Surg/Swing bed unit at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital.
- Assures competency of all nursing personnel.
- Responsibilities require knowledge of hospital and nursing policies and procedures.
Education/Licensure Requirements:
- BSN in nursing is preferred, but an ADN with managerial experience may apply.
- Current Mississippi RN license
- ACLS, PALS, BLS
Job Responsibilities:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Knows and practices the prescribed philosophy, purpose, policies, and standards of Nursing/Patient Care Services.
- Organizes, directs, and administers the Nursing/Patient care Services to provide the level of care required by current medical and nursing standards.
- Identify and communicate staff needs for continuing education to the Hospital Educator.
- Works and collaborates with the Hospital Education coordinator to ensure that all nursing staff are adequately trained and capable of caring for patients in a safe manner.
- Responsible for budgeting, ordering supplies, and equipment while adhering to cost saving measures as established by approved annual budgeting.
- Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communication with Administration on the activities/issues of Nursing/Patient Care.
- Keep professionally current by attending continuing education programs, seminars, workshops, and or independent research.
- Participates in policy decisions and revisions that affect the Nursing/Patient Care Services.
- Attends Medical Staff meetings monthly.
- Attends and is involved in various hospital committees such as CQI, Compliance, Safely Risk Management.
- Develops and maintains a cohesive and productive relationship with the providers at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital.
- Initiates and participates in problem-solving, policy forming conferences for Nursing/Patient Care Services. Maintains close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration services.
- Give ongoing timely feedback, verbal, and written anecdotes to staff on performance and annual performance appraisals.

Job Knowledge/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in patient care services management preferred.
- Prior experience as a Director or Assistant Director of Nursing preferred.
- The ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and the application of sound administrative principles.

- Experience working with electronic health records.
- Experience in Word, Office 365, and Excel preferred.
