Position Summary
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Atlanta United Director of Methodology will be charged with leading the development of coaches and players in the elite youth category. Streamlining a progressive curriculum for our academy players that is in line with our club philosophy, and preparing them to become professionals. This includes training session library, game model, identity exercises, individual development, alignment of video analysis, integration and collaboration of all departments and educational aspects for developing high quality players as well as individuals.
Essential Responsibilities

• The Director of Methodology will serve as a mentor and leader for coaches and players in the club and help with continuing coaching education in the club and community.
• Provide coaching education in-service days
• Work with Technical Director and first team coach to insure pathway for academy players into first team
• Program and deliver the elite player curriculum
• Will oversee the MLS Next pro coach and ensure playing style and principles of play are deeply understood
• Will oversee IDP coaches to ensure alignment with principles of play
• Will oversee development video analyst to align video feedback, training and game preparation
• Work with DOC's from the region to help educate and increase proper training environments for youth
• Work to ensure consistency of curriculum throughout the developmental pyramid and provide guidance in the recruitment, orientation, evaluation and education of staff in the youth development space
• Help to enhance a learning environment/ culture within the Atlanta United academy system
• Focus will be on creating professional players through technical, tactical, physical, video and mental preparation
• Develop prospective players and prepare them to play in the first team
• Be responsible for oversight and management of the development system
• Works with and reports to Technical Director on vision of development and philosophy
• Serve as an ambassador on behalf of the Club in the US soccer community

Qualifications

• US Soccer "A" license or foreign equivalent
• Experience as a coach in a professional environment
• Demonstrated ability to teach techniques, tactics, physical and psychological components of soccer
• Proven track record of Developing youth players into professionals
• Has implemented a development methodology or curriculum throughout an organization
• Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and educate youth players and youth coaching staff
• Able to communicate message thoroughly
• Strong Leadership skills
• Strong organizational and personal management skills
• Ability to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Knowledge of professional sports teams environments, team operations, public relations, and media responsibilities
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Must be a team builder and team player. Must have the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, players, etc.
• Has participated in continuing education over the course of coaching career
• Ability to educate and work with parents as well as the academy players
• Outgoing individual who develops & builds strong relationships with a disparate group of people
• Solid character and will represent the Atlanta United brand properly
• Ability to manage a team of coaches
