Job Description
We’re looking for a seasoned professional who can create narratives that guide our brand story. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations will lead and oversee the development and implementation of Marketing projects to gain public interest and raise brand awareness. The ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of Marketing/PR functions, as well as positive relationships with media professionals in our industry and the community. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations will report into the Vice President of Business Development.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the organization’s Marketing and Public Relations efforts, responsible for both internal and external strategies and communications, including but not limited to:
- Employee communications
- Press releases
- Investor/shareholder communications
- Social media
- Advertising/events
- Develop media relations strategy focused on high-level placements in print, broadcast, and online channels to increase company visibility and brand awareness
- Build connections with key media organizations and journalists through a mix of traditional, digital, and social channels
- Ensure that our Marketing/PR efforts serve immediate and long-term business goals aligning with growth plans and new business opportunities
- Forecast news cycles and identify areas of trending public interest
- Understand the competitor landscape and stay ahead of any threat to our brand position
- Write timely press releases and media kits, and direct social-media team to communicate proactively
- Help establish strategies for damage containment in crisis situations
- Travel 25% domestically and internationally
Required skills and qualifications:
- 5-10+ years’ experience in leading and implementing Marketing and PR strategies
- Direct marketing experience working in the manufacturing or related industry
- Experience in Public Relations at a company or organization
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Deep knowledge of traditional, digital, and social media channels
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and significant experience working with senior leaders and stakeholder
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Public Relations, marketing, or advertising
- Established relationships with media organizations and journalists
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
