Job description

Closet America is seeking a Director of Manufacturing who will provides visible product and process quality leadership by incorporating into daily Business Unit operations, all known regulatory and internal company guidelines and policies applicable to process, equipment, and utilities. Will collaborate with leaders across the organization, both up and down the organizational structure of the company to maintain and improve the operational process of the company. Monitors and evaluates workflow and assembly methods and makes recommendations for process improvements.

What You'll Do: 

  • Lead and oversee all manufacturing operations within the business unit, achieve company goals for product quality, on-time delivery, effective inventory management, manufacturing profit and productivity
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance, safety inspections with analyses, and audits conducted on a continuing basis, and as specified, to enforce requirements and meet specifications
  • Establish, maintain, and ensure compliance with quality processes & tools to support operations team
  • Must be able to work closely and communicate with other departments
  • May write and/or implement changes to controlled documents
  • Optimize manufacturing operations with focus on LEAN principles and other process improvement tools.
  • As a member of the leadership team, be responsible for annual budgets and development plans for future growth
  • Acts as a strategic partner with business leaders in the development of the manufacturing business strategy and effectively links the Supply Chain objectives to the business strategy
  • Provide key strategic direction and oversight for all areas of Manufacturing in the Finished Goods segment, integrating customer, product, and market requirements in order to meet the goals of the business, with direct reports encompassing all manufacturing talent in the segment
  • Lead processes and governance to assure that all Manufacturing related requirements and Goals for the Finished Goods segment are achieved at all levels
  • Train, mentor, develop and provide leadership to employees in application and use of various tools by acting as a subject matter expert
  • Drives safety consciousness amongst staff, encourages and empowers staff to drive safety initiatives related to manufacturing and warehouse areas
  • Always maintain a clean and organized facility
  • Willing to travel on occasion to support operational requirements
  • Accountable for team training compliance and career path guidance to team members, while ensuring a proper tracking of competencies
  • Manage suppliers in terms of quality, on-time delivery, and cost

What You'll Bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a leadership role with manufacturing, preferably in the closet or cabinet related field
  • Management skills and ability to drive culture first environment of accountability and excellence
  • A minimum of 12 years’ experience in consumer products manufacturing
  • Experience and relationships with software companies such as Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, KCD and relationships with woodworking/panel processing machine manufacturers such as Stiles, Biesse, SCM considered beneficial
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement, leveraging data and technology to impact quality, maintain innovative thinking habits and actively seek to partner with quality teams to ensure highest quality manufacturing and operational success
  • Able to work well in a team environment with various internal organizations
  • Knowledge of current procurement policies, practices and procedures, e-business, procurement systems and supply chain management processes
  • Establish key performance indicators that drive change and visibility to the team and leadership
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and experience implementing process improvements
