Job Description

Director of Facilities and Transportation

A. QUALIFICATIONS

 College degree in relevant subject matter, 5 years of successful experience in a supervisory role with comparable job duties or 10 years of general work experience in a comparable position required.

 Competence in general facility maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry work, school bus Maintenance and HVAC required.

 CDL B with School and Passenger Endorsement is required or ability to obtain the same within 6 months.

 Works well with others and can manage people effectively.

 Experience with planning bus routes and supervising drivers preferred.

 Experience with large scale school building projects preferred.

 Experience in union labor negotiations preferred.

B. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Facilities and Transportation is responsible to the

Superintendent.

C. GENERAL DUTIES

 Directly manage, supervise and direct all aspects of Belpre City
School’s bus transportation program.

 In conjunction with the building principals, assists with the supervision, directing and evaluation of all aspects of the facility and grounds of the Belpre City School District and to oversee the maintenance program, current and preventive.

 In conjunction with the Superintendent and Treasurer, assist with the planning, bidding and construction (or refurbishment) of school building projects.

D. SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. In conjunction with the building principals supervises all custodians and maintenance personnel.

2. Assigns, directs, and supervises the work and operational procedures of the custodians, maintenance personnel, bus drivers and mechanics and is responsible for work and vacation schedules of same.

3. Evaluates all Maintenance and Transportation personnel and makes recommendation regarding reemployment.

4. Assists the building principals with the evaluation of all custodians.

5. Inspects all facilities to determine custodial and maintenance needs to ensure that all facilities are in excellent condition and makes recommendation for improvement as needed.

6. Is responsible for all buildings and facilities being kept at a high level of cleanliness and sanitation.

7. Requisitions custodial and maintenance supplies of high quality and keeps inventory of supplies at all times.

8. Trains employees as to methods, procedures, techniques to be used to accomplish their duties in an efficient and effective manner.

9. Transports materials, supplies, equipment, etc. to buildings of the school district.

10. Reports the absence of Custodial and Maintenance staff to the payroll clerk and secures substitutes as required.

11. Responsible for district-wide snow removal.

12. Properly maintains boilers, keeps all safety devices in good working order, keeps all flues clean and keeps burners and controls in working order.

13. Properly maintains all building motors, fans, pumps, etc.

14. Responsible for all electrical and plumbing systems of all buildings.

15. Serves as the district’s asbestos coordinator and provides for AHERA compliance.

16. Develops, implements, supervises, and evaluates rules and regulations regarding the use of school grounds and makes recommendation for their improvement.

17. Directs and supervises all outside contractors and vendors and inspects any work performed by the same.

18. Continually strives to improve job related skills through training and in- service.

19. Supervises District Energy Management System.

20. Creates and maintains all school bus transportation routes and coordinates assignment of personnel to trips.

21. Ensures all drivers are properly credentialed and trained on appropriate safety techniques.

22. Trains transportation personnel on discipline techniques to use during their routes.

23. Coordinates safety programs regarding fire prevention and inspection, emergency weather, hazardous conditions, and school bus inspections.

24. Properly bids out construction or material RFPs in accordance with Ohio law.

25. Works with administrative team and board of education to design construction projects and serves as local point of contact with contractors to oversee project completion.

26. Works with the administrative team and board of education in negotiation employee/board negotiated agreements with AFSCME\OAPSE or other duly elected representative.

27. Assists in the grievance, arbitration, and labor practice process.

28. Strives toward the highest standards of personal and professional conduct.

29. Performs such other duties as the Superintendent deems necessary for the efficient operation and maintenance of the school district.

E. Length of Contract: Negotiable

F. Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • On call
  • Weekends as needed
