Job Description

The Director of the Life Science Division provides direct managerial oversight for all teams operating within the Life Science Division. The position of Director for the Life Science Division is a high-level management position which requires the ability to manage internal personnel including other management team members.

A division Director shall possess the following traits as a minimum, independent thinking, strong conceptual skills, strong understanding of machining fundamentals and material properties, excellent communication skills both verbal and written, the ability to present engineering concepts in an effective manner to customers and peers, effective at time management, budgetary awareness, strong decision making capabilities, excellent leadership skills, conflict resolution skills, and the ability and desire to mentor. This position reports to the General Manager.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Direct the efforts of the management group and teams within the Life Science Division to drive profitable Growth.
    • Goal setting for team performance.
    • Setting expectations for professionalism and communication
  • Lead all Customer Governance/Management level meetings.
  • Mentorship and growth of team members
  • Achieving the goals set by the GM as it pertains to the overall Division.
  • Directly responsible for the financial performance of the Division.

  • Ability to present technical information at a high level to a broad audience.
  • Ability to produce PPT or similar presentations.
  • Highly professional appearance is required - Business Casual attire required with occasional need for business professional attire (addition of sport coat)
  • The ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Travel required as necessary (Including but not limited to other ATC locations to ensure consistency), valid driver's license required

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor.
  • Exert up to 10-50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Visual Acuity: Near acuity with or without accommodation, normal peripheral acuity.
  • Hearing Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose.
  • High noise levels from operating machines.
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, dust and mist.
  • Occasional skin exposure to oil and fluids.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related field. (or 10 years of directly applicable experience)

Experience

  • 8+ years of project management experience
  • 8+ years of direct employee management experience

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree or greater in mechanical engineering or related field.

Experience

  • 10+ years of project management experience
  • 10+ years of direct employee management experience
  • Excellent leadership abilities
  • Excellent customer management skills
