Position Summary
Trinity College seeks a staff that reflects the changing demographics of our student body. The Director of Leadership Giving is a member of the Advancement Senior Staff, and is a key partner in the success of the ALL IN: Our Campaign for Trinity College comprehensive campaign. The director is responsible for ensuring that campaign goals from prospects rated at the Leadership Giving level are met. The Director manages and supports the Leadership Giving team to maximize giving from their prospects, and also manages a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects. The Director is the staff lead for the college's alumnae giving initiative (the Marjorie Butcher Circle).
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements a structure to support and enable Leadership Gift Officers (LGOs) to achieve optimal performance, which is measured by meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Actively manages a portfolio of approximately 100 rated prospects. Ensures initiatives most important to the prospect are identified, and support for those areas is maximized by considering current and planned gift opportunities. Employs campus partners and volunteer leadership in the process of inspiring support.
  • Provides professional development and guidance to the Leadership Giving Team. Creates a culture of transparency and collaboration within the team. Evaluates and manages performance. Hires and oversees on-boarding of new colleagues and separations as needed. Connects with colleagues at peer and aspirant schools to benchmark and share best/new practices.
  • Cultivates Leadership Giving from alumnae by nurturing the Marjorie Butcher Circle to inspire and attract leadership gifts from alumnae, and continues to expand the Circle and deepen the experience for women who gift $50K or more in a year.
  • Ensures that the LGO team actively supports annual giving and athletic giving initiatives, incorporates planned giving goals, and partners with colleagues to support key college events (i.e. commencement, reunions, homecoming, etc). Assists with regional events by identifying event hosts and speakers from LGO prospect pools.

  • Oversees and reviews LGO budgets
  • Maintains data to clearly and accurately reflect LGO and MBC activity and outcomes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must demonstrate empathy and behavior that supports a diverse community
• Prior success as a major gift officer (5+ years)
• Understanding of the business of private higher education and commitment to the mission
• Donor-centric mindset

• Evidence of good judgement and ability to problem solve
• Ability and desire to travel
• Self-disciplined and motivated, driven to meet metrics
• Highly organized, flexible. Proficient with CRM and data management.
