Summary

he Director of IT Infrastructure provides leadership for managing, developing, and implementing MIS solutions in support of business operations in order to decrease costs, increase revenue and contribute to the margins. S/he serves as a senior IT technologist in the enterprise, establishing an architecture strategy aligned to an enterprise-wide IT strategy. This includes "canned" ERP solutions and custom solutions that augment our business processes and monitor overall technology performance to ensure optimal responses, and guard against security and capacity issues. S/he will engage with IT leaders and teams focusing on performance reporting and management, resource planning, site management and is responsible for maintaining operation excellence for all of the organization's information networking systems and servers.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Director of IT Infrastructure will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:

  • Supports the company's business level digital transformation initiatives through IT initiatives and delivery services
  • Oversees the management of the delivery of agreed solutions are following IT strategies, architectures, policies, processes, and procedures ensuring continued business value of the service portfolio
  • Manages the lifecycle of all IT assets within agreed financial and governance procedures providing input into the IT budget and IT technology refresh roadmap
  • Ensures the proactive management of the company information & asset security including network integrity, monitoring, and data security
  • Coordinates and improves service desk deliveries operated by supplier(s)
  • Analyzes existing software programs and technical solutions to meet existing and future business needs
  • Develops and maintains supplier management relationships to support the needs of the business and ensure that all suppliers meet their contractual commitments
  • Negotiates with vendors on behalf of the company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions
  • Establishes MIS team goals, objective, and operating procedures
  • Develops the company's short and long-term plan for evolution of technical systems
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and develops direct reports
  • Ensures compliance with employment and labor laws; may be responsible for conducting training or coordinating workshops related to such compliance
  • Ensures continuous service improvement measures are applied within the IT function
  • Ensures MIS systems are supported 24 x 7 x 365
Requirements
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience of 10 or more years preferably in the construction industry 
  • Experience managing a large, diverse IS infrastructure and applications operations in a globally outsourced environment
  • Must have experience of managing staff remotely
  • Strong knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and operations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, VMware, storage systems and data backup systems and procedures
  • Must be able to travel to user sites by automobile or airplane to implement solutions, conduct, or attend training classes, etc.
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics
  • Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture (EA)
  • Experience with the design and implementation of operational management processes
  • Proven excellent customer service skills supported by verifiable references

Certifications:

  • ITIL Foundation or higher certification
  • Public Cloud Foundational certification (Azure, GCP or AWS), preferred

  • Ability to translate business needs into EA requirements and apply multiple solutions to business problems
  • Ability to expertly analyze problems to determine root causes and determine best course of action for effective resolutions
  • Strong supplier management, communications, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to build a strong rapport with user community by consulting with them to understand their issues and requirements for a productive user environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under the pressures of a heavy workload and/or time constraints
