POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Council’s IT needs, including the coordination and oversight of projects relating to system security, development and/or equipment.

This individual is responsible for leading IT projects efficiently and effectively and supporting the Council’s users with company communication and IT infrastructure and systems. The Director of Information Technology is an integral member of the Council’s Leadership Team, and is an important strategic partner for managers and staff throughout the organization, supporting the varied technology-related needs of GSWNY.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage all aspects of the implementation and operation OF INFORMATION and functional systems for the organization, including software applications, network, phone systems and end-user hardware;
  • Directly and effectively supervise IT Department staff;
  • Manage multiple cloud-based, hosted systems;
  • Manage communications and working relationships between IT and other departments within the Council, as well as multiple outside IT service providers;
  • Provide help desk and technical services assistance to on-site and remote employees;
  • Provide technical support for all GSWNY software platforms, such as retail/POS systems, video conferencing platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, Operating Systems (Windows), networking support as needed, and coordination across organizational departments to assist with supporting and strategic management of multiple technology platforms;
  • Partner with GSUSA and Senior Director of Data Analytics & Outcomes on large-scale program updates and rollouts of new technology, ensuring smooth transitions with limited interruption to employee and business operations;
  • Work closely with the Chief Administrative Officer to design, develop, implement, and coordinate policies and procedures for all areas OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY to assure data accuracy, security, legal and regulatory compliance; assure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Coordinate with System Administrator to implement, maintain, and ensure maximum uptime for telephone and audiovisual systems;
  • Ensure security and tracking OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY assets, data, network access, and backup systems; supervise/perform periodic audits to verify the security of internal and external systems;
  • Effectively manage vendor relationships, overseeing the IT request for proposal process, contract negotiations and documentation of service terms, as well as successful implementation of any approved projects, upgrades, etc.
  • Sustain a well-informed approach toward system functionality and infrastructure, monitoring emerging technology trends, changing regulatory landscape and rapidly evolving technological advancements so as to ensure the organization is utilizing technology wherever possible to facilitate effective and efficient operations, aligning to the Council’s strategic goals;
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally with managers to develop and maintain an IT roadmap for the Council;
  • Manage annual IT budget and ensure cost-effective distribution of resources;
  • Develop requirements, outlines, budgets, and schedules for INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY projects;
  • Partner with the Chief Administrative Office on training and development initiatives for Council staff and Volunteers on INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY platforms, procedures and best practices, to bolster productivity and facilitate improved utilization and awareness of available technology;
  • Oversee and manage all phases of IT projects, from conception through to completion;
  • Serve as the technical lead or project manager for system implementation projects;
  • Bring consistency to project execution and life cycle management of systems;
  • Support the Council’s strategic goals and mission as an active and engaged member of the GSWNY team.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Girl Scouts is proud to serve a diverse community of girls and volunteers. Bilingual language skills or proficiency in one or more non-English language is always appreciated, though not required;
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or a related field is preferred; relevant work experience and/or a combination of education and on-the-job training will also be considered;
  • A minimum of five years of Information Technology experience, serving in a supervisory role for two or more years;
  • Experience with the following systems are preferred, though not required: Microsoft Office 365, Windows Operating Systems, Video Conferencing, VOIP telephone systems, POS systems, including electronic payment processing platforms, document management software, online reservation systems, asset management programs, help desk ticketing systems, Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY general controls, data and cyber security and computer hardware/software systems;
  • Demonstrated experience leading and/or managing IT projects
  • Understanding of and experience with managing data network and telecommunications systems;
  • Understanding and experience with managing IT infrastructure, including systems, personal computing, help desk, servers, and printers;
  • Ability to effectively communicate technology, infrastructure and process needs and requirements with employees across all skill-levels;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to project a high level of professionalism at all times;
  • Commitment to diversity and ability to interact with diverse populations;
  • Strong time management skills with ability to work independently and effectively prioritize duties and tasks in order to successfully meet and manage multiple deadlines;

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capacity to network effectively and positively represent GSWNY in the public arena;
  • Ability to articulate organizational mission and its importance with passion and conviction, and in a manner that resonates with the listener;
  • Ability to effectively manage and foster relationships with council staff, volunteers and within community;
  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA;
  • Successfully pass the required background checks at hire and thereafter;
  • Maintain reliable transportation to and from home and work;
  • Ability to meet the travel requirements of the position to conduct Council business;
  • If travel is required, must possess a valid driver’s license, meet minimum state auto insurance requirements, and meet the insurance carrier’s requirements for coverage.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position primarily operates within a professional office environment. The role routinely requires the use of standard office equipment, such as computers, telephones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

HOURS & TRAVEL:

  • 37.5 hours per week; overtime and weekends as needed;
  • Travel within council jurisdiction to various properties as needed (approximately 30% travel).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time (approximately 60% or more);
  • Frequently operates a computer, office equipment and IT devices - such as calculators, hand held devices, copy machines/computer printers/multifunction devices, and computer peripherals (e.g. mouse, webcam, remote control devices, etc.) – intermittently for extended periods of time;
  • This position occasionally requires the employee to move objects and lift up to approximately 30 pounds;
  • Rarely, this role may require work outdoors and exposure to various weather conditions.

GIRL SCOUT MEMBERSHIP:

All Employees of Girl Scouts must maintain an active, annual membership in Girl Scouts of Western New York. This membership must be renewed annually, and all newly hired employees are expected to enroll with GSWNY within the first 30 days of their employment.
