Description

Position Summary

The Director of Instruction will manage and oversee all Golf Instruction at The Los Angeles Country Club. Managerial responsibilities will also include the complete oversight of the Driving Range Operation and its employees, and management of all Hard Goods buying for the Golf Shop; including merchandising and controlling all budgets pertaining to Hard Goods, Demo & Fitting materials, and Rental Equipment.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities Specific to Driving Range

  • Serves as Manager of the Driving Range Operation
  • Manages all staff and equipment pertaining to the Driving Range
  • Works with the Director of Golf to manage the Capital Improvement Budget for the Driving Range, i.e. Driving Range Furniture and all Facility Equipment
  • Works with the Director of Golf Courses and Grounds and his team to monitor playing conditions of Driving Range
  • Continually updates swing trainers and warm-up equipment on Driving Range
  • Works with Director of Golf and COO on long range planning for any Driving Range improvements

Responsibilities Specific to Hard Goods

  • Serves as Club Fitting expert for members and staff at the Club
  • Regularly use discretion and independent judgement in the following duties:
    • Performs all buying of Hard Goods for the Golf Shop
    • Performs all buying, organizing, and maintenance of Demo and Fitting Materials
    • Performs all buying, organizing, and oversee maintenance of Rental Equipment
    • Manages budgets for Hard Goods, Demo Clubs, Fitting Materials and Rental Equipment
    • Manages Inventory levels and assist in monthly inventory counts for Hard Goods

Responsibilities Specific to Instruction

  • Serves as the Golf Instruction Expert for Members and Staff at The Los Angeles Country Club
  • Runs monthly Instruction Meetings to educate and train the Golf Staff
  • Continuously motivates the Golf Staff regarding the importance of Golf Instruction at the Club
  • Works with the Director of Golf to provide Instruction Program Offerings to Membership online and in print
  • Performs the hiring of well-known Guest Instructors as special clinics for the Membership
  • Markets, plans, co-instructs, and fully oversees Guest Instructor clinics for the Membership
  • Runs and Oversees Monthly Clinics for the membership, and trains staff to run clinics at a high level parallel with the brand of LACC Golf Instruction
  • Continuously maintains the Instruction Page on the Website
  • Films and Produces Monthly Instruction Videos featuring the Director of Instruction & Golf Staff
  • Provides Monthly Teaching Articles for the Club Bulletin
  • Manages budget and controls buying for all Teaching Supplies
  • Oversees the Jr. Golf Program and manages the appointed Assistant Professional for Jr. Golf
  • Runs the Jr. Elite Program weekly including
    • Programs communication with Parents
    • Performs and oversees Wednesday practices and Friday On-Course Sessions
    • Provides Recruiting Tools including workshops with College Coaches
    • Organizes rounds of Golf with College Players
    • Offers and provides player reports to College Coaches for recruiting, including video and ball striking data for our Jr. Elite participants
  • Monitors advancements in the Industry and stays relevant with all things Golf Instruction
  • Attends Teaching and Coaching Summits for continued education and training
  • Maintains relevant certifications deemed valuable by the Director of Instruction and the Director of Golf
Qualifications

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate in high intensity work environments
  • High aptitude in current trends and best practices for Golf Instruction
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Self-motivated with desire to create, promote and market programs effectively
  • Ability to delegate tasks to other staff
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office
  • PGA Member

Education

  • High School Education Required
  • College Graduate Preferred
  • PGA Member in good standing

Experience

  • (3) Years of previous Golf Professional experience in country clubs is preferred
  • (3) Years of previous teaching experience developing instructional programs and clinics
  • Well versed in latest technologies such as Trackman and Boditrack for club fitting and instruction
