We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Fleet.
Position Overview: As the Director of Fleet, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all fleet management operations within Foundation Building Materials. This pivotal role will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of our company's extensive fleet throughout North America (US and Canada), ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of materials to various locations.
Key Responsibilities:1. Fleet Management:
- Oversee and optimize the management and maintenance of the company's fleet, including trucks, vehicles, and equipment.
- Develop and implement cost-effective fleet management strategies, including maintenance schedules, fuel efficiency, and replacement schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and maintain a strong safety record for the fleet.
- Implement and/or oversee technology solutions for fleet tracking, monitoring, and performance.
- Provide guidance and support to various leaders and location management throughout the organization.
- Set performance expectations and KPIs for Regional, District and Branch Management to regularly assess their performance against these objectives.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent implementation of Fleet management programs and procedures across different regions.
- Stay current with all transportation regulations and industry standards, ensuring that the company remains in compliance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant regulatory agencies and bodies.
- Implement and oversee safety and compliance training programs for drivers and fleet personnel.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and systems to enhance fleet management efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate fleet management systems with other company databases and software.
- Develop and manage the fleet budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Analyze financial reports and data to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance overall fleet performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors, including vehicle manufacturers, maintenance service providers, fuel suppliers, and technology solution vendors.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and compliance with service level agreements.
- Evaluate vendor performance regularly, addressing any issues or discrepancies to maintain high service standards.
- Collaborate with vendors to implement innovative solutions, streamline processes, and improve overall fleet efficiency and safety.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in fleet management technology to make informed decisions regarding vendor partnerships.
- Develop and implement strategies for the sale of existing fleet assets that align with the company's financial goals.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to assess the condition and market value of existing fleet assets.
- Oversee the sales process, including negotiations, documentation, and transfer of ownership.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to the sale of assets.
- Analyze market trends to determine optimal timing for asset sales to maximize returns.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation Management or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in fleet management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance, and best practices.
- Experience in the construction or distribution industry is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful fleet management programs.
- Experience in managing budgets and driving cost-effective solutions.
- Familiarity with fleet management technologies and software.
