PaintJet is redefining the industrial painting market by introducing advanced robotics, AI and material sciences to optimize the coating process. Our automated approach tackles the systemic labor shortage by focusing on increasing painter productivity and precision application while reducing material waste. We are hiring a Director of Finance to ensure operational excellence as we scale the company nationwide. As Director of Finance, you will be responsible for executing the company's financial strategic plan while collaborating with leadership to drive company growth and operational improvements. From implementing real-time inventory management and ensuring global compliance, enhancing financial reporting to managing working capital and insurance portfolios, you will serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO.


The Impact You'll Make in This Role:

The Director of Finance is a highly visible, integral part of PaintJet's mission to transform the coating industry. In this position, you will have a direct impact on the company's strategic plan and improved information flow intended to drive organizational and operational excellence. The ideal Director of Finance will have a background as a Finance Manager or similar in construction, transportation, logistics or technology enabled service companies.


As PaintJet's Director of Finance, you will:

  • Assuming immediate responsibility for execution of PaintJet's financial strategic plan.
  • Overseeing leases, payroll, contracts, consulting, vendor and banking relationships.
  • Acting as a thought partner to our CEO and senior leadership on matters related to the company's financial health, providing analytical insights and recommendations.
  • Owning the preparation of all financial statements and presentations, to include building and delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for external distribution.
  • Installing a real time inventory management system.
  • Installing systems to ensure GM targets are met from sales through contract fulfillment.
  • Ensuring compliance with local operating requirements across the US and globally.
  • Managing working capital through a variety of facilities and banking relationships.
  • Managing PaintJet's insurance portfolio and ensure local operational compliance

Education & Work Related Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Bonus points for an advanced degree and/or CPA certification.
  • Tenure working in a tech enabled service, construction, or transportation organization.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven results as the senior finance leader in your previous role(s)
  • Expertise in accrual basis financial reporting, strong financial analysis skills
  • Ability to lead/strategize AND roll-up sleeves as we continue to build out our team including tactical tasks such as reconciling monthly books, preparing taxes, managing AP and AR, etc.
  • Knowledge of debt and equity/cap table presentation and demonstrated expertise in building board presentations.
  • Prior experience coordinating with financial service providers to optimize global tax efficiency and operating compliance.

Target Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000 annually + equity options

Work Hours: This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours

Work Location: Hybrid to Norfolk, VA, office

Travel Requirements: Required to travel at least one week a month to Norfolk, VA, office
