Summary:

The Director of Evangelism will collaborate with the leadership of Serve Locally (SL) and the MDD (Make and Deepen Disciples) staff and is responsible for creating, curating, coordinating and implementation of innovative formational evangelism and discipleship resources/events for Covenant churches and ministry partners across the globe. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Mobilizing evangelism leaders in every regional conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

• Mentoring and coaching ECC pastors and leaders in evangelism leadership and culture change leadership.

• Training & equipping leaders to facilitate evangelism leadership cohorts and other teaching/learning experiences.

• Sponsoring ministry events and network opportunities.

• ECC Churchwide Campaigns (e.g., BLESS, Immerse, etc.)

• Adult Content & Curriculum (e.g., ECC Membership Curriculum, Week of Prayer, Crescendo, etc.) and new material

• Youth/Children Curriculum (e.g., Journey Confirmation Curriculum, Justice Journey for Kids, etc.)

• Plan and Facilitate MDD Training, Equipping, and Resourcing Events (e.g., virtual events, online presence, BLESS Conference)

In all of these, both internal collaboration with Serve Locally mission areas, as well as external collaboration with conferences and local churches, is critical to ensure successful ministry outcomes.


Essential Functions:

• Mentor and coach ECC pastors and leaders in evangelism leadership and culture change leadership.

• Develop, oversee, and guide evangelism network opportunities within conferences, local church staff, and other ministry leaders.

• Collaborate with and support of leadership on denomination-wide evangelism initiatives.

• Cultivate and strengthen partnerships between the denomination and conference offices.

• Create, curate, and coordinate MDD resources including campaigns, resources suites, curriculum, digital events, and more.

• Cultivate relationship between the denomination and conference teams.

• Host MDD ministry events, experiences, and network opportunities.

• Contribute to the planning and execution of ECC events, such as: the BLESS Conference, UNITE, NextGen, Midwinter, Annual Meeting | Gather, in order for evangelism to be interwoven in offerings and opportunities made available at said events.

• Prioritize efforts aimed at stimulating children's and youth evangelism.

• Advocate for equity, diversity and ethnic/racial representation aimed at advancing the multi-ethnic mosaic.

• Partner with colleagues and Covenant ministry leaders to advance MDD objectives.

• Maintain, promotes and fosters discipleship resources and efforts connected to evangelism responsibilities as appropriate

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Candidates will possess and apply these demonstrated abilities in:

• Writing, editing, and creating curriculum and educational resources.

• Teaching, equipping, facilitating others, both in-person and virtually. ?

• Innovative, ministry-based needed content creation and delivery for multiple demographics.

• Can provide leadership in a formal or informal capacity to achieve MDD objectives

• Coordinating teams and mobilizing decentralized ministry.

• Proven mastery of numerous software, hardware, and online tools.

• Budget management

• Demonstrated intercultural agility.

• Proven record of accomplishment in evangelism, resource development, program implementation and conversion impact.

Preferred: Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, exercised in curricula development and social media interactions.


Skills:

• Mastery of Microsoft and Windows applications, database development and management, and web technologies.

• Detail-oriented, strong organization, prioritization, time management skills and overall project management skills are essential.

• Excels attention to detail with an elevated level of accuracy in the preparation of documents, reports, and correspondence. Writes speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

• Works well under pressure and can accomplish multiple tasks with conflicting priorities and timelines.

• Ability to operate with discretion and confidentiality.

• Effective verbal and written communication

• Responds appropriately and adjusts actions in relation to others' actions.

• Effectively presents information to senior leadership, public groups, and/or boards of directors, or other affiliate, constituency groups

• Reads, analyzes, and interprets common ministry journals, financial reports, and legal documents for impact to ministy

Education and Experience:

Required: Master's degree in divinity, Evangelism, Christian Formation or Theology. A minimum engagement of five (5) years in the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) and a minimum of 5 years of functioning in ministry positions, to include experience in conference level activities. Credentialed in the Covenant, or willing to be credentialed in the Covenant.

Preferred: Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, exercised in curricula development or social media interactions.


Environment Conditions:

Must be able to work in remote locations with corresponding applications and connections, in accordance with personnel policies. Willing to travel across North America and internationally, approximately 50% of work time. Must be versatile and able to work for prolonged segments sitting/standing and on a computer. Must engage frequently with office tools and equipment, such as: computer, copier, phone, web-conferencing equipment, cell communication, printers, etc. Must be able to occasionally lift or move items, less than 35 lbs.
