About This Role
The Director of Education will play a key role in ensuring products and their corresponding uses, benefits and key ingredients are well positioned to drive sales and scale into hero products within the market. This role will work cross functionally with our internal NPD, sales, and marketing teams, crafting ingredient stories and value props for each product that highlight the value and efficacy of the formulations, and from there ensuring our messaging consistently highlights these key points. The Director of Education will also serve as a close partner to our retailers, developing and providing training materials and live trainings to their teams, facilitating in-store events and activations to drive engagement and retail sales, and generally working with them to support sell through.
Role And Responsibilities:
As the Director of Education, your primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Work collaboratively with product development, sales, marketing and creative on the innovation calendar and launches to ensure strategic and timely execution of all education materials for both internal and external use
  • Act as the internal Oak Essentials product ambassador, responsible for ensuring all team members and stakeholders are well versed in the positioning approach and value props of all products
  • Work closely with all members of the internal marketing and digital teams, including but not limited to those who own Ecommerce, email, SMS, paid and organic social, ambassador gifting, retail and PR to ensure product messaging and application is cohesive and impactful across all channels
  • Act as a partner to the internal OE Customer Experience team, developing and maintaining a robust product FAQ to ensure they're able to answer a broad range of customer questions regarding products. Collaborate with the team on an ongoing basis as new questions arise and utilize learnings to inform future product FAQS
  • Strategize, develop and facilitate the execution of product education programs and trainings to support both internal DTC sales and key retail partners
  • Create programs that align with corporate objectives to develop talent and drive sales along all consumer touch points (brand/product positioning, beauty selling skills, professional techniques, event strategies and service standards)
  • Produce and present education and strategy materials for both internal and external marketing partners to utilize, which could include suggested copy, videos, training modules, product demos and selling techniques
  • Work directly with internal and retailer marketing teams to provide recommendations, review, and approve product copy, product imagery, video content and the general messaging approach around new launches and campaigns
  • Work closely with partner retailers to provide all website product copy, imagery and video content, and product reviews to support strong sales via their digital channels
  • Partner with the VP of Sales to build out a regular reporting cadence on retail sales performance. Work side by side with in-store retail teams to support the ongoing health and success of their businesses
  • As we continue to scale, recruit, train and develop a freelance field sales team and other internal hires to support our retail partners. Educate and coach this team on brand pillars and support their growth through continued product knowledge and selling trainings
  • Collaborate with VP of Sales to develop field education and training on-boarding programs customized to various field team members including account executives, account coordinators, and independent contractors as needed
  • Stay on top of beauty and wellness trends and continually incorporate these into training materials to ensure we maintain relevance in our product positioning
  • Travel as needed to retail partners to support both ongoing training and events
  • Oversee both the development and execution of in-store event and activation strategies with our retail partners, seeking out opportunities for bringing the OE brand to life for our retail partners and their customers at scale
  • Work closely with our retail partners to identify all opportunities for eventing and partner with our internal marketing teams to ensure adequate support is provided by OE to support these event's success
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure events are supported with enough inventory to hit sales forecasts and we've explored all opportunities for GWP, bounce back initiatives, etc to drive repeat business from our event attendees
  • Manage and lead beauty corporate event programs and trade shows as needed such as, slc, flc, sephoria, tips, cosmoprof and pr events
  • Build and maintain expense budget for education event cost centers on partnership with leadership to ensure trainings, events, and programs fall within planned budget
  • Act as a positive representative of Oak Essentials at all times, developing strong relationships with both internal and external team members

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in beauty retail, ideally in the skincare space
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Keynote, Netsuite ERP
  • Experience working with LMS and CRM programs a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Comfortable public speaking both live and on video/social in front of both internal and external stakeholders, as well as in front of customers and at large scale brand events
  • Ability to multitask and exceptional organizational skills
  • Confident in building and maintaining relationships with team members and leadership at all levels both internally and externally
  • Flexible schedule and available to work weekends

Physical Requirements :
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 8+ hours at a time
  • Must be able to move and lift heavy objects (25 pounds or more) from time to time as required
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000-$145,000. The base salary is determined by experience, education, skills, and location. In addition, this full-time position is eligible for the following company benefits:
