Job description

The Role:The Director of Donor Relations is responsible for leading a team of Advancement Managers, provide them with position appropriate and specific training, and support their creative ideas in fundraising. This position will foster relationships with few donors (including individuals, congregations and businesses). The Director of Donor Relations will create a fundraising plan and support the team in executing and meeting the goals outlined in the plan. This role will work with Advancement Managers regionally to create development plans, execute annual plan strategies, and solicit major gifts and planned gifts. In addition, this person will serve as consultant and trainer to Advancement Managers and District Directors agency-wide, including offices in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Lead a team of Advancement Managers to create development plans, execute annual plan strategies, execute events, and solicit major gifts and planned gifts.
  • Provide regular professional development opportunities for Advancement Managers.
  • Increase efficiency of Donor-facing fundraising efforts through data analysis and changes to current methods within the department, in partnership with CAO.
  • With the Chief Advancement Officer and the Advancement team, develop a strategic plan for establishing and cultivating relationships with major donors (determined by market statistics and wealth capacity of current donors).
  • Uphold confidential information found in the donor database, while keeping accounts accurate and current meeting notes in the donor database. Record activities in moves management showing the progression of relationships.
  • Create a church relations plan that will work for all districts. Support replication and execution of the plan with each Advancement Manager.
  • Engage with Volunteer Manager and systems as needed to support a healthy volunteer pipeline that support transformation to donors when possible.
  • Work with the Advancement Managers and Advancement specialists to support donor communications.
  • Assess data points and provide analysis on current success and opportunities we can explore as a team.
  • Interface with the donation processors to ensure donor intent, information regarding upcoming donations, and arrival of donations.
  • Include the President/CEO, Chief Advancement Officer, Area Council members, District Directors, Program Managers, or Advancement Managers, as appropriate, in a plan for specific donor visits and events.
  • Develop and execute a planned giving program to include scalability for Advancement Managers.
  • Develop expectations for CEO and CAO roles in events.
  • Facilitate timely donor recognition.
  • Creatively approach the many facets of Donor Relations to grow the overall giving opportunities, or capacity of them, that LCSNW engages in.
  • Prepare reports, statistical analysis and proposals (individual, not grant proposals) for major donors.
  • Work with the Advancement Operations team and with CAO to improve systems and processes across fundraising for LCSNW.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five or more years' experience in nonprofits, business or a relevant area. Additional experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Graduate degree or work, certification in fundraising, or Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation desired.
  • Three or more years of experience working in a fundraising capacity required, especially with major gifts cultivation and solicitation ($5,000+ level gifts).
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Must be a team-oriented person who understands the dynamic of working with a diverse team to achieve organization goals.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a positive manner; Exceptional communication skills and ability to forge relationships with a wide range of individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to generate and cultivate meaningful and durable partnerships.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and cultivate donors and volunteers.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently between WA, ID, and OR.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work on projects amid changing priorities, with integrity in meeting deadlines.
