Position Summary:
The Director will develop, implement and monitor programs, activities and practices that promote equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and anti-racism within Hartford HealthCare (HHC). The Director will help drive and enhance HHC's capacity to implement change, foster a climate of respect, and raise levels of consciousness surrounding cultural and intersectional identities, as well as implicit bias and racial microaggressions. The Director will assure their efforts improve colleague experiences, the ability to recruit and retain a diverse workforce, grow and develop that workforce, and create a culture visibly guided by system commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides strategic direction and integration across a complex and diverse integrated delivery system to strengthen the system's culture such that all colleagues can do their best work
  • Serves as key partner to system and equity leaders in planning and strategy development - helps define needs, structures, approaches, and activities/interventions, and identifies resources necessary to support strategy deployment
  • Assists in the creation and implementation of HHC's approach to learning opportunities and workforce development as it relates to HHC's equity strategy and competencies in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and anti-racism
  • Assists with monitoring, evaluating, and improving HHC's capacity to recruit and retain a diverse workforce and partners with and advises the appropriate stakeholders regarding measurable strategies that advance our workforce diversity goals and objectives
  • Works as a strategic partner with various business units, groups and colleagues to develop and implement specific programs and initiatives that improve our work culture including talent acquisition, retention, colleague engagement, individual, team and organizational development, performance management, compensation and employee relations
  • Supports and develops the Colleague Resource Groups, DEIB Councils and an equity related rewards and recognition program
  • Assists in creating and facilitating a comprehensive learning strategy and set of opportunities for all colleagues, and a talent management and leadership development approach within HHC that integrates our equity value into the daily operations of our system
  • Serves as the internal and external representative for the system's DEIB strategies and priorities

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Seven plus years of strong operational/human resource/equity experience
  • Three plus years of leadership experience
  • Experience with change management, culture and employee engagement and development principles and processes
  • Demonstrated commitment and knowledge of Diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles as they apply to marginalized communities and health/health care disparities
  • Anti-racism, social justice, racial justice framing experience
  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex data and concepts into user-friendly information that is relevant across disciplines for diverse stakeholders
  • Experience and capacity to lead and work through others, and possess deep strengths in cross-functional communications and colleague activation/engagement
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate and empathize with others
  • Presents a positive attitude, strong action orientation, and a "can do" attitude; ability to make things happen
