Director of DevOps & Quality Assurance

This position will be responsible for leading the team responsible for testing software code through development and stage environments to limit impact to Production systems and operating CI/CD pipelines. The Director, DevOps & Quality Assurance (QA) works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of Business, Developers, fellow DevOps and Quality Assurance Engineers, and Infrastructure, as they set up their build development and test environments. This position reports to the CTO and works with management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.

Principal Responsibilities

• Manage a high performing team of DevOps QA engineers.

• Ensure team meets or exceeds project service level agreements with high quality deliverables.

• Develop and maintain the processing, scheduling, and integrations of our enterprise applications.

• Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, scheduling, and quality.

• Work with product owners, developers, and QA testers to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features and releases.

• Supervise build of test strategies and test plans to cover multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

• Measure and monitor progress to ensure deliverables are tested and scheduled on time.

• Ensure system processes and dependencies are properly managed and uptime maintained.

• Continually work towards making improvements in the production operational and Quality Assurance testing process.

• Research new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs.

• Work with Project Team to present and obtain signoff on QA Test Plan and QA Test Results.

• Maintain and ensure test environment, code deployment and data integrity to ensure accurate foundations for testing activities.

• Ensure all test artifacts are properly documented and understood across the QA Team; including, but not limited to, ensuring defect details including steps to recreate are clearly documented, maintaining the suite of test cases and clear test results reporting (including gathering of test metrics).

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of previous DevOps release and Quality Assurance Testing, with a solid understanding of project management principles.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion without direct reporting relationships.

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate with and present to engineers, and relevant stakeholders.

• Understanding of QA methodologies, QA architecture, procedures, tools, documentation, metrics & analytics (including ROI).

• Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, and project management.

• Experience working with quality management approaches, techniques, and principles.

• Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices.

• Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Must be flexible, team-oriented and committed to having a good time while doing a great job.

• Experience with Scheduling Products (JAMS preferred), Docker/Kubernetes, SQL, GIT, Jenkins and Artifactory.
