Director of Cultural Programming - The Fifth Avenue Hotel
The Fifth Avenue Hotel is seeking a Director of Cultural Programming to join the executive leadership team for the opening of a 150-room five star hotel. Carved out of an oasis of comfort and calm in the middle of bustling Manhattan, mindfully blending personal service, superlative design, distinctive cuisine, compelling art, and engaging cultural experiences. Every aspect of The Fifth Avenue Hotel is tailored to delight, engage and foster curiosity in our guests and team members.
We are seeking a dynamic individual with proven success as a curator and event strategist in a luxury environment to manage the operations and overall success of The Fifth Avenue Hotel's cutting-edge cultural program. The Director of Cultural Programming will be responsible for the content curation, talent procurement, and event production of a robust calendar of thoughtfully curated, globally inspired, and multi-sensory experiences activated throughout the hotel's exquisitely appointed property.
The Director of Cultural Programming will report to the Director of Sales & Marketing
YOUR FOCUS
  • Ideation and curation of 60+ unique cultural experiences per calendar year
  • Cultural events include, but are not limited to:
  • Conversations with cultural icons and preeminent thought leaders
  • Music and dance performances featuring globally renowned artists
  • Interactive master classes across all areas of art & culture
  • Immersive wellness experiences
  • Holiday and cultural milestone-themed events
  • Develop and execute weekly, monthly, and quarterly event series
  • Negotiate and secure talent for all programming
  • Manage programming calendar and scheduling of Cultural events
  • Event conceptualization and design for all cultural events (i.e., event format, time of day/week, timeline, audience size, venue selection)
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with key cultural organizations, consultants, and strategic partners across various cultural verticals (i.e., art & design, culinary & beverage, authors & thought leaders, music & entertainment, wellness, etc)
  • Lead the planning and execution of Cultural event production (pre-, during, post-event), including but not limited to:
    • Booking in-house event venue
    • Coordinating with staff
    • Sourcing & managing third-party vendors as needed
    • Reviewing and approving BEOs
    • Run-of-show, floorplans, and other logistics-related tasks
    • Ensuring all events run smoothly
  • Collaborate with The Fifth Avenue Hotel's marketing, PR, and social teams on marketing assets and media opportunities for cultural events
  • Coordinate talent travel & hospitality (i.e., flights, accommodations, ground transportation, per diem, travel itinerary, welcome notes & thank you gifts)
  • Manage RSVPs and guest lists for all cultural events
  • Ensure that hotel standards are met and that programming exceeds guest expectations
  • Manage department budget

YOUR BACKGROUND
  • Management-level experience in the fields of Cultural Programming, event planning & production, marketing, public relations, communications, and/or hospitality. Preference for Cultural Programming experience within a hospitality setting
  • A passion for art, culture, experiences, and artistic expression
  • Service-oriented mindset and basic knowledge of the hospitality industry is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, team player, reliable, professional, and hardworking
  • Ability to think innovatively to meet deadlines and goals
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Creative and flexible with grace under pressure and strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and open to a varied work schedule
  • Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
