Job description

SMG is seeking a Director of Corporate EHS Services.
This position will provide leadership, development, and execution to support large corporate clients. This role will collaborate with marketing to position and grow our SMG EHS corporate services business. This role will build a strategy for brand position, business development, account scalability, and quality service delivery to drive profitable long-term growth. Monitors progress to ensure client specifications are incorporated and timelines are followed. Offers direction and suggestions for strategic solutions for client projects. Continually strives to advance service delivery solutions and increase business with clients. Creates and fosters positive client relationships. Supports all aspects of Operations, is strategically involved with business development functions, and works to bring in new clients and projects. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget while delivering excellent customer satisfaction. Creates a staff growth mindset through continuous development, motivation, and mentoring.
Strategically position SMG EHS Services

  • Develop and communicate a clear strategy to prioritize growth and focus resources on these opportunities
  • Bring low ego and high EQ (Humble, Hungry, and Smart), and rally the division and organization around the vision, strategy, and approach
  • Define a clear path to profitable growth, including target customer bases, service lines, and geographies
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems, EHS governance, and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues with competing priorities
  • Confidently able to facilitate and deliver presentations to a diverse audience

Leads EHS Corporate Services
  • Lead the EHS and corporate governance services to include assessments, development, and execution of key EHS initiatives, employee and leadership safety engagement, and communication with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and compliance assurance
  • This role will set the expectations for governance, audit, risk analysis, and compliance, driving standardization of the governance program for platform partners
  • Develop and manage advanced EHS consultative services focused on compliance, risk reduction, and culture growth, driving EHS excellence through implementing a robust and consistent governance and audit program
  • Develop reporting and analysis of findings, trends, and metrics for statistical trends and assist in developing action plans to drive program improvements and business leadership 'session E' reviews
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date EHS corporate services value propositions, KPI's, data sets, and case studies for presentations to C-suite and management partner meetings
  • Lead the EHS corporate services team with a growth mindset, professional development in alignment with SMG services, strategy, and leadership principles, building and implementing robust compliance/governance processes, audit skills, and hazard recognition team
  • Collaborates with the division team leaders to build a successful organization
  • Prepares and oversees SMG EHS corporate EHS services division budget

Assumes responsibility for providing effective strategic solutions for new and existing customers.
  • Uses strategic thinking and exceptional design practices to gain new client projects
  • Works to gain new clients from development through proposal
  • Responsible for client presentations and completing the RFI/P process for new clients or opportunities
  • Works to understand project design issues, constraints, and specifications thoroughly
  • Research to provide the best possible strategic solutions for client projects
  • Ensures quality requirements and project goals are communicated and met

Effectively manages EHS corporate services team personnel, ensuring optimal performance
  • Provide leadership to personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Directs, schedules, and coordinates client projects
  • Is results-oriented and holds team accountable for measurable outcomes
  • Ensures personnel are effectively deployed to their "highest and best use"
  • Provide or coordinate training for area staff as necessary
  • Implements the Performance Management and Associated Development planning process. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed
  • Supports the Emplify engagement process
  • Conducts interviews and assists with hiring personnel as needed

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with clients and business contacts
  • Creates and fosters positive client relationships through clear and effective communication of ideas and solutions
  • Ensures service delivery options and capabilities are presented to clients
  • Serves as a liaison between clients and Company personnel as necessary
  • Builds relationships with sector leaders and regional leadership for large national corporate clients
  • Ensures client deadlines and budgets are met
  • Maintains and projects the company's professional reputation

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (advanced degree is a plus)
  • Ten or more years of related experience
  • Proven leader with extensive corporate EHS experience. The person must have strong strategic and commercial skills
  • Innovative and results-oriented leader with significant experience in providing leadership
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities
  • Emotionally intelligent, resilient, and mature. Enjoys rising to new challenges and can handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • A demonstrated record of accomplishment with sustained success in hitting/exceeding growth targets
  • Strong project management, leadership, and organizational and analytical skills

Physical Demands of the job may include
  • Moving about long distances. Ascending and descending stairs
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Manual dexterity is needed for typing and other repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to speak in an accurate and detailed manner on the phone or in person
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly when required
