Microsoft Advertising is seeking a world-class Director of Content & Integrated Marketing to drive our strategic presence on the global stage. As the Director of Content & Integrated Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Microsoft Advertising’s storytelling and ensuring that content strategies resonate with target audiences. In this position, you will be involved in overseeing the content and editorial strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving content excellence across various channels. In essence, you are focused on achieving Microsoft Advertisings business objectives through a compelling and relevant editorial and content strategy in the short and long term.

Responsibilities

In this role, the Director of Content& IntegratedMarketing is tasked with five critical areas of responsibility:

1. Leadership and Editorial Vision:

  • Develop and communicate a clear editorial and storytelling vision and plan aligned with Microsoft Advertising’s overall marketing and business goals.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define content themes, priority narratives, and messaging.
  • Establish an editorial structure to integrate and align content across the organization.
  • Establish an editorial calendar to guide content creation and distribution across channels (blogs, social media, email, etc.).
  • Establish editorial guidelines, style standards, and quality control processes.
  • Lead the Microsoft Advertising blog and Social channel strategy, editorial and content plans. Oversee our evangelism to align industry speaking and content to our editorial plan.
2. Content Strategy and Creation:
  • In alignment with the editorial strategy, develop a and implement a content strategy, considering channel selection, editorial governance, and metrics aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Help build and lead our content capabilities in creating compelling, high-quality content for our top tier moments that reflects the brand’s voice and resonates with the audience.
  • Implement models and processes for sourcing information/insights (internally and externally) and analyzing data to validate proposed content topics and themes.
  • Define content plans based on market trends, audience insights, and competitive analysis.
  • Lead the way on industry trends, emerging technologies, and content marketing innovations. Experiment with new formats, storytelling techniques, and distribution channels.
  • Ensure content adheres to brand guidelines, SEO best practices, legal and industry standards.
  • Actively participate in research efforts, including providing input to questionnaires and surveys.
  • Design measurement systems to track content performance against operational goals; adjust tactics accordingly.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to brainstorm and develop compelling visual experiences that resonate with the target audience.
3. Integrated marketing
  • Develop and execute an Integrated Marketing strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including product and sales) orchestrating cohesive marketing efforts across multiple channels.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and measurement of Integrated Marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate efforts across various channels, such as email, social media, content marketing, events, and paid advertising.
  • Optimize campaign performance by analyzing data and adjusting tactics as needed.
4. Team Management and Development:
  • Lead and mentor Integrated Marketing, social, evangelism and content team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that supports Microsoft’s values.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
  • 8+ years work experience at a branding agency or with product marketing, brand building, and/or strategy development.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a content strategy leader, editor in chief, integrated and campaign, or communications strategy roles.
  • Experience in adtech or martech.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years creative strategy experience, which could include brief writing and/or managing strategy on the corporate or agency side.
  • 8+ years experience managing projects (e.g., internal stakeholder management, timelines, prioritization, road mapping).
  • 3+ years people management experience.
Brand M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124800.00 - $242600.00 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159000.00 - $264000.00 per year.
