Just Salad is seeking a construction professional that will join our team. Under the general direction of the Chief Concept Officer, the Director of Construction will lead the new construction team by establishing construction standards, maintaining historical budgets, managing long lead time items, and qualifying General Contractor and Subcontractor pool for quality of workmanship and service ability. In line with Just Salad’s mission to make everyday health and sustainability possible, you will also support initiatives to reduce Just Salad’s environmental footprint.

 

The work location for this position will be NYC-based and will be required to come to the office 3-4 times per week. They will also be required to travel to restaurants under construction.

 

Reports to: Chief Concept Officer

 

Director of Construction Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains historical construction costs for entire system.
  • Supports Real Estate by maintaining Landlord Workletter templates and fully understands Workletter values.
  • Assists the Construction Project Managers with Real Estate Committee budget estimates.
  • Oversees new construction sites systemwide to ensure a high level of quality and safety.
  • Collaborates with Facilities team on best practices to ensure that new construction and existing store maintenance programs are aligned.
  • Develops and maintains Just Salad construction standards.
  • Ensures all projects are consistently constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
  • Provides technical support to Just Salad Construction Project Managers.
  • Assists the Construction Project Managers with Construction Contract and Change Order negotiations.
  • Establishes and maintains construction administration templates including Bid Forms, General Contractor Construction Contract, and Pay Application forms.
  • Coordinates with Procurement team on ordering and tracking of long lead time materials and equipment.
  • Reviews weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
  • Support initiatives to reduce Just Salad’s environmental footprint.

 

 

Director of Construction Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other related discipline required
  • 5-10 years of direct construction project management required
  • Full understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering systems
  • Experience with Quick Service/ Fast Casual Restaurants is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to train, empower, and effectively manage direct reports
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Displays initiative and a strong sense of personal motivation.
  • Advance knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, or similar Project Management Software
