SummaryThe Director of Communications develops, implements and oversees a robust and dynamic content portfolio and multimedia editorial and public relations strategy that advances the Tulane University A. B. Freeman School of Business’s regional, national and international visibility and reputation in order to support its recruiting, reputational and revenue goals.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications and as the primary communications liaison for School faculty, staff and students, the Director is a highly creative and skilled communications strategist who leads a team that identifies, writes, assigns and produces multimedia stories and video content for distribution to various Freeman audiences across platforms that include but are not limited to Freeman Business and the School’s blog, alumni newsletter, news website, social media and digital signage. The Director works closely with the Associate Director of Marketing to plan and deploy content across multiple channels. The Director regularly partners with School and University colleagues, including 1) graduate admissions to align communications work with enrollment priorities; 2) central communications to identify and help secure media opportunities for Freeman faculty and accomplishments; 3) central advancement in sharing news, stories and updates that engage alumni; and 4) Business School units to develop communications strategies and campaigns that support the priorities of those units. The Director also drives internal communications for the School, including managing the editorial calendar and content plan for the Dean’s internal communications and newsletter.
Required Qualifications- A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field.
- Ten years of experience in marketing, communications or related field.
- An advanced degree in marketing, communications or related field.
- Marketing and communications experience in an institution of higher education or a non-profit organization similar to higher education.
- Experience with media relations, engagement and pitching.
