Job Goal:

Performance Responsibilities:
The role of a Director of Communications for an Education Service Agency involves specialized responsibilities and requires a unique set of skills and knowledge.
- Responsible for cultivating a vibrant community through envisioning, producing, and evaluating unique and memorable public events, marketing activities, and multi-faceted initiatives. The ROE seeks to engage with diverse groups of county and Illinois residents to build a connection in unique, creative, and enduring ways.
- Developing and executing a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with the agency's educational goals and objectives. This includes identifying key messages, target audiences, and appropriate communication channels.
- Managing public relations efforts, including media relations, press releases, and public statements. The role involves being the primary spokesperson for the agency and handling media inquiries effectively.
- Facilitating effective communication within the organization. This includes overseeing internal newsletters, announcements, and ensuring that staff are informed and engaged with the agency's activities and goals.
- Overseeing the agency's online presence, including website content, social media accounts, and digital marketing campaigns. This involves content creation, monitoring online interactions, and utilizing digital platforms to enhance the agency's visibility and engagement.
- Developing initiatives to engage the community and stakeholders in the agency's programs and services. This might involve organizing events, workshops, and other outreach activities.
- Preparing and managing crisis communication plans, responding quickly to emergencies or controversies, and maintaining the agency's reputation during challenging times.
- Ensuring consistent branding across all communication materials and activities. This includes overseeing the production of marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and promotional videos.
- Overseeing the communications budget, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively.
- Leading and mentoring the communications team, setting goals, and evaluating performance to ensure a high-functioning department.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, government agencies, and community organizations, to promote and support the agency's initiatives.
- Analyzing and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies, using data to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments.
- Ensuring all communication activities comply with legal and ethical standards, particularly in relation to educational policies and privacy laws.
