Director of Cancer Communications, Constituent Relations & Outreach

Posting Summary:The Director is a key leadership role, responsible for all the communications, Constituent Relations, public relations, and outreach activities within the University of Vermont Cancer Center (UVMCC). Responsible for overseeing and implementing a comprehensive communications, marketing, public relations, and outreach strategy that encompasses both the research and cancer service line within the UVMCC. Drive the development and execution of strategies to enhance the center’s reputation, promote its research initiatives, support its clinical services, direct outreach activities, and execute all external and internal communications across multiple platforms. Build and sustain relationships across the university and UVM Health Network, other Cancer Centers, businesses, public, private, and non-profit organizations, and advocate for the UVMCC and use UVMCC platforms to influence public policy, engage the community, and build reputation.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):Master’s degree in a related field and 3-5 years of specialized and relevant experience required such as marketing, communications, public relations, Constituent Relations or similar.
3-5 years experience in leadership roles in marketing, communications, and Constituent Relations in a higher education, non-profit or health sciences setting. Strong strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute successful communications and outreach strategies. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to manage a diverse team. Experience with brand management, internal communications, and external relations.
Previous experience working in a Cancer Center is preferred. Experience with crisis communications and knowledge of Cancer research and healthcare industry trends is a plus.
