Job description

Job Title: Director of Behavioral Health
Classification: Exempt, Full-time
Supervision Responsibilities: Yes
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer
Essential Role: This position is primarily responsible for administrative and programmatic supervision of all aspects of Behavioral Health care services, while providing Behavioral Health consultation to children, adolescents, adults and families in order to improve psychosocial functioning.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist the organization with the delivery of Behavioral Health services across multiple service areas, programs and overall service delivery sites.
  • Provide assistance (directly or indirectly) in training staff in necessary protocols, diagnosis and treatment methods, and clinical intervention strategies for quality Behavioral Health service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of providing Behavioral Health services, through all funding and grant streams for the department.
  • Ensure and maintain a high level of efficiency as it relates to coordination of client/patient care, scheduling of patients, follow through on BH policies and procedures, quality and peer reviews and all aspects of the department.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of Behavioral Health clients.
  • Provide effective treatment planning and assist clients in successfully achieving goals.
  • Assist the primary care team in developing care management processes such as the use of guidelines, disease management techniques, case management, and patient education to improve self-management of chronic disease.
  • Provide assessment, consultation, and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems and/or disorders.
  • Teach patients, families, and staff care, prevention, and treatment enhancement techniques.
  • Attend trainings, workshops and other relevant professional development events approved by the CEO. Make recommendations on quality improvement measures based on current best practices.
  • Maintain regular meetings and provide management reports to the CEO related to contracts, grants, program and staffing concerns.
  • Should be comfortable with the pace of primary care, working with an interdisciplinary team, and have strong communication skills.
  • Directly responsible for department personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, terminations, schedules, time approvals, performance appraisals and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
  • Master’s Degree required in Social Work.
  • Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) or a Licensed Psychologist.
Experience
  • Prefer at least 3 years of experience practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Psychologist.
  • The ability to provide clinical supervision of MSW’s working toward clinical licensure.
  • Excellent working knowledge of medical and mental health conditions.
  • Previous experience management experience preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including computers, copiers, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, organize, monitor, and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision-making skills in past-paced environment.

  • Must display good verbal and written communication skills and be able to professionally receive and follow oral instructions.

Work Schedule: Normal schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm., schedule may vary.
