A prestigious resort in Hualalai is seeking a Director of Banquet Special Event Operations who embodies a commitment to excellence and infuses enthusiasm into every aspect of their work. Our Director of Special Event Operations plays a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience by offering exceptional knowledge of the Resort and embodying the Golden Rule in all interactions. Legal work authorization is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Recruit, train, assess, lead, inspire, mentor, and manage all employees, supervisors, and assistant managers within the Banquet Department to ensure adherence to established cultural and core standards.
  • Maintain a focus on motivating and engaging long-serving employees.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans for outlet operation and execution plan development.
  • Foster effective communication channels with all staff members.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the operation, offering assistance as needed, providing recognition, fostering positive public relations, and addressing complaints, concerns, or special requests from guests, clients, and group contacts.
  • Coordinate setup requirements for in-house and off-site functions by banquet event orders.
  • Liaise with group contacts on-site and relay essential information to Catering and Conference Services Managers and the Banquet management team to ensure flawless execution of all function details. In collaboration with the culinary team, ensure the quality and timeliness of all food items, providing guests with expertise on wine and spirits in a tastefully appointed environment dedicated to attentive and distinguished service.
  • Stay abreast of catering/banquet trends and conduct comparative analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Food and beverage, Director of Food and beverage, Executive Chef, and Director of Catering to devise effective menus and wine lists while upholding exceptional product quality at a reasonable price.
  • Participate in regular operational meetings to foster effective coordination and cooperation across departments.
  • Understand and enforce labor standards in collaboration with Finance.
  • Manage labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control.
  • Monitor the physical condition of banquet facilities and equipment, making recommendations for corrections and improvements as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Proficiency in accurately navigating computer systems.
  • College education or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in a similar position, preferably with Forbes-rated hotels.
  • Strong customer service skills.
