Job Description
This position will provide leadership in the development of the Aviation Maintenance Technician academic program, while actively contributing to the faculty and supporting grant-related initiatives. This role will work with administration, faculty, staff, and community partners and requires a strong background in aviation and academia, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of successful grant management. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for education, a commitment to academic excellence, and a strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement.
Working under the direction of the Dean of Skilled Trades and Industry, the Director of Aviation Maintenance will be the key contact for the Aerospace site and assist with the daily operations in non-academic departments such as student affairs, facilities, etc. The Director of Aviation Maintenance will have a key role in developing relationships and partnerships within the community while supporting college and community initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 4 years of work experience in an educational setting.
  • Ability to communicate in written and oral form to diverse audiences is essential for all communication strategies.
  • Interpersonal skills so communications and interactions with internal and external customers are conducted in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Ability to act in a professional manner at all times to promote a harassment-free environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Teaching experience to include multiple instructional delivery methodologies in a 14 CFR Part 147 school with new and emerging technologies:
    • Fuel and Power Sources
    • Autonomous Technologies
    • UAS
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant License (FAA 147 requirement)
  • Experience in program and course development, including stackable credentials.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aerospace programs.
  • Experience writing and coordinating grants.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in activities supporting a culture of caring.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, human relations, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Effective project management skills and the ability to analyze, interpret and present data.
