Job Summary
Strategic Analytics is a growing team at Arch that has established itself as a driving force in how the business is run. This is achieved through the implementation of real-time analytic solutions that improve profitability and growth. To broaden its impact, the team has expanded its focus to deliver business-driven intelligent data automation capabilities. These data extraction and enrichment solutions combine data from external vendors with intelligent document processing technologies. This includes working with artificial intelligence/machine learning, NLP, OCR, generative AI, and algorithmic-based actions.
As Director of Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), you will lead the development of end-to-end data extraction and enrichment projects that improve digital operations. You will partner closely with the AVP of Intelligent Data Automation to design, develop, and implement data automation opportunities by applying the right mix of technologies across the underwriting and claims functions. This function will build and maintain a competitive advantage through increased speed and agility.
The ideal candidate will be located near Jersey City, NJ with the ability to be in office 2x/week. We are also open to candidates near other Arch locations in CT, NY, and PA. For the right candidate, we would be open to 100% remote.
Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the AVP of Intelligent Data Automation & business units to analyze workflows to identify opportunities for improvement while aligning with business goals and adhering to standards
  • Design and execute proof-of-concepts to evaluate the business value of external data with a focus on coordinating between data engineers/scientists, business partners and vendors
  • Hands-on management of offshore resources
  • Use AI technologies such as natural language processing to extract business data from unstructured and semi-structured sources (e.g., loss runs, application scraping using OCR, generative AI, etc.)

Required Skills/Experience
  • P&C insurance business process analysis, process improvement and automation experience
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams for delivering technology solutions
  • Experience defining technology requirements designed to enhance business processes and business optimization
  • 5+ years of Python development experience

  • Comfortable handling ambiguous concepts and breaking down complex problems into manageable pieces
  • Excellent critical thinking skills in order to tackle complex data challenges
  • Ability to communicate effectively to different target audiences
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and highly collaborative global team
  • Flexibility - able to meet changing requirements and priorities
  • 2+ years of Automation/NLP/OCR/ and/or Computer Vision engineering experience

Education
  • College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or equivalent

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$148,614 - $201,066/year
  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above range may be modified in the future
