Positions:  (1) Director of Athletics/Physical Education     
                       
Locations:       Districtwide                           
 
Qualifications:            -Experience in running an athletic program
 
-Holds a New Jersey Certificate as a Teacher of Health and Physical
               Education
 
            -Minimum of three years successful experience in public education
 
            -Demonstrated leadership in the organization and administration of a
               District-level athletic program
 
            -Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high standards
             of conduct for athletes
 
            -Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and
            initiative
 
            -Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate
              well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community
 
            -Supervisor Certification or Principal's Certification
 
            -Strong Academic Background and good working knowledge of
   curriculum  in Health and Physical Education
 
            -Knowledge of N.J.S.I.A.A. policies and procedures
 
            -Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent
             may find appropriate and acceptable
           
 
Responsibilities:        
 
  1. -Provide administrative direction and oversight for all athletic
programs, activities, and supervised the control of the issuance and maintenance of athletic equipment and exercise facilities.
 
  1. -Evaluates the intramural interscholastic athletic programs and
makes appropriate recommendations for change.
 
  1. -Prepares and administers the athletic budget and assumes
responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining equipment/
supplies.
 
  1. -Serves as liaison between N.J.S.I.A.A and the school district
 
  1. -Supervises and evaluates Physical Education Staff
 
  1. -Works Collaboratively with various coaches and the community
 
  1. -Organizes and administers the district's program of extracurricular athletics and assumes responsibility for the scheduling of all Intramural and interscholastic athletic events
 
  1. -Develops and implement appropriate rules and regulations
governing the conduct of athletic activities and ensures compliance with the rules promulgated by the NJSIAA
 
  1. -Verifies each athletics eligibility according to established physical
academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each
sport and obtains written parent permission for students to
Participate
 
  1. -Prepares and administers the athletic program budget and
      requisitions program supplies and equipment
  1. -Arranges for the physical examinations of all athletes prior to each session
 
  1. Assumes responsibility for the proper supervision of home games and he availability of game officials, team physician and security personnel
 
  1. Assumes responsibility for compliance with board-adopted emergency medical procedures for all practice sessions and competitive events
 
  1. Oversees the implementation of heat acclimation procedures
 
  1. Oversees the implementation of concussion and head injures including return to play
 
  1. Arranges for the transportation for athletic competitions
 
  1. Supervise all ticket sales and fundraising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds
 
  1. Arranges filed and gym practice schedules
 
  1. Supervises the care, maintenance and storage of all athletic equipment and supplies and maintains a current inventory
 
  1. Enforces school rules of conduct for athletics and good sportsmanship
 
  1. Promotes good school-community relations and support through effective and certification as may be assigned
 
  1. Performs other duties with may be within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.
 
  1. Facilitates the Driver's Education Program
 
  1. Provides Leadership  in the selections, assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches and trainers
 
  1. Directs all aspects of Physical Education and the Physical Education/Health Supervisor
 
Program Duration:   2023-2024 School Year         
                         
Reports To:    Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent
 
Supervises: Coaches, Athletic Trainers, Athletic Contest Help, Athletic Club Advisors
 
 
Job Goal:
 
To provide leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the district's athletic program in order to provide students with the opportunity to develop physical skills, knowledge and understanding of sport and the principles of fair play.
                                               
                                                                                               
Salary:                    As per collective bargaining agreement
 
Annual Evaluation: Performance of his job will be evaluated bi-annually in accordance with the
 NJ State law and the provisions of the board's policy on evaluations
