Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

Position Summary

The University of Oregon is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the role of Director ofAthletic Medicine/Head Team Physician. This leadership position will oversee the comprehensive medical and behavioral health services for the diverse University of Oregon student-athlete population. The Director will play a vital role in promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, ensuring adherence to departmental policies, Pac-12/Big Ten Conference regulations (transitioning in August 2024), and NCAA guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

Medical degree.
MD licensure, currently licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Oregon.
Current Drug Enforcement Administration registration for controlled substances.
Five years of experience as a Team Physician.
Medical training in general medicine with an orthopedic and/or sports medicine background.

Ability to communicate effectively as a leader in a healthcare setting.
Strong judgment skills and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a Team Physician at Division I, Power 5 institution, or professional sports team.
Experience working with multiple sports.
Experience in university health care setting.
