FLSA STATUS:Exempt; Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)
DIRECTOR:Executive Director

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Directs and coordinates functions of multiple senior programs, including Case Management, Senior Nutrition (Home-Delivered and Congregate Meals), Adult Day Respite, Caregivers Support, Counseling, Intergenerational Recreation and Transportation and others as determined. Combined, our Aging Well Together programs strengthen the abilities of people 60+ and adults with disabilities. This comprehensive System of Care promotes good health, nutrition, security, help with the activities of daily living, improved quality of life, increased socialization, and access to pertinent information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes and develops programming to ascertain community requirements and problems in working with seniors and in determining agency’s responsibilities for administering senior programs.
  • Advises health and welfare agencies in planning and providing services based on community surveys and analyses.
  • Prepares reports for funding partners, including Results Based Accountability.
  • Work at all Aging Well Together program sites weekly to evaluate effectiveness of services provided.
  • Evaluates and monitors all aspects of program operations to conform to local, state and federal regulations. Develops and implements policies and procedures as needed specific to the department.
  • Recruits, hires and assesses personnel working in Aging Well Together programs.
  • Processes client complaints and initiates corrective actions designed to improve client relations and services.
  • Reviews and submits budget to Executive Director. Discusses program requirements and sources of funds available with fiscal personnel.
  • Reviews literature dealing with funds available through grants from government agencies and private foundations to determine feasibility of developing programs to supplement local annual budget associations.
  • Develops program goals and objectives, outlines how funds are to be used and explains procedures necessary to obtain funding.
  • Writes and reviews grant applications, according to formats required and submits applications to funding agencies or foundations.
  • Monitors and reports on all grant funded programs.
  • Prepares reports to comply with grant requirements. Monitors paperwork connected with grant funded programs.
  • Prepares narrative justification for budgetary expenditures.
  • Participates in the development of goals, the areas of growth and administration of the agency.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages a total of 6-12 employees in Aging Well Together Programing, including Case Management Senior Nutrition Site and Congregate Meals Site and Adult Day Respite Site. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience - preferably in the Human Services field.

ADA COMPLIANCE - PHYSICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, COGNITIVE & PSYCHOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical: Regularly sits up to 2-3 hours per day. Gets up and down frequently throughout the day to interface with others. Must have excellent hearing, speech and writing capabilities and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Environmental: Works alone, with and around others. Work environment is moderately noisy. Distractions are regular.

Cognitive: Required to read, write, compile, sort and analyze simple to moderately complex information. Independently assesses workload and prioritizes activities. Very strong organizational and planning skills. Able to communicate and resolve semi-complex problems independently. Excellent listening skills and ability to perform tasks requiring great attention to detail. Uses judgment and initiative, within defined limits of discretion, in making recommendations and decisions.

Psychological: Strong interpersonal and communications skills to deal with emotional,

demanding or difficult people and/or situations. Regular exposure to high-stress situations with demands, deadlines, shifting priorities and multi-tasking. Excellent teamwork and proactive group participation are a necessity.
