Director Of Accounting & Operations

Saxum Real Estate, a diversified real estate investment and development firm with a national footprint and a portfolio in excess of $2B in capitalization, is seeking a seasoned, highly motivated and hands on real estate professional to serve as the Director of Accounting & Operations reporting to senior management. You will be a vital leader of our accounting and operations team and will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, reporting and back office support for our diverse portfolio of real estate investments and funds. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position will involve a combination of both strategic and tactical responsibilities in the firm’s accounting, operations, and human capital management functions
• Oversee accounting and operations team to drive overall company performance and revenues, reduce expenses, etc.
• Collaborate closely with all company verticals - asset management, capital markets, acquisitions, legal, development, construction, property management, leasing and other departments to streamline processes and optimize investment performance
• Accounting / Operational Management: oversee the operating company’s financial planning, budgeting, cash management, fund distribution, and forecasting activities
• Strategy: collaborate with senior leadership to improve company processes, elevate operations strategy and provide valuable insights to enhance efficiency, growth, and morale
• Oversee all banking and treasury relationships and ensure compliance and internal controls with accounting team.
• Manage guarantor financials and liaison with lenders/third parties Assist Capital Markets & Asset Management team with budgets & financial reporting
• Oversee annual tax and audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements to optimize accounting operations and reporting accuracy
• Collaborate with legal team to ensure investment structures and financial activities align with regulatory requirements
• Manage Company’s as well as investment insurance (GL, Property, Umbrella, D&O/E&O)
• Mentor and lead a team of Accounting and operational professionals, fostering their growth and development

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
• Minimum 7 years+ of Accounting experience within a real estate company
• Knowledge of US GAAP Strong understanding of fund structures, investment strategies, and financial markets
• Significant skill set to spearhead all finance, accounting and operational functions and the ability to create and run processes and procedures
• Systems-oriented with deep knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to work with various accounting, property management and leasing database systems
• Creative and innovative approach to solving problems and resolving issues
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external relationships
• Proven leadership and relationship-building skills; ability to engage and influence a range of stakeholders
• Excellent judgment and commercial awareness
• Flexible, self-starter and able to multitask; ability to work within an ambiguous, fast-paced environment while driving toward solutions
