Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to lead our organization. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations, including strategic planning, business development, fundraising, donor cultivation and animal welfare. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strong leadership and possess strong business management and fundraising skills. The shelter is undergoing a revitalization and requires a candidate that can work with a team of animal care experts and development personal to help the shelter restructure and grow the organization with a focus on best practices and progressive animal programs.
Duties:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organization
- Develop and implement effective business strategies to drive best practices in animal husbandry and achieve organizational goals
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective processes
- Lead and manage a team of professionals, providing guidance and support
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes collaboration, innovation and open communication
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, donors, and community partners such as Animal Shelters, rescues and sanctuaries
- Serve as a non voting member of the Board
- Establish open line of communication with the Board, keep Board up to date on shelter activities
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial sustainability
- Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for organizational advancement
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legal requirements

- responsible for staff hiring, performance reviews and improvement plans
Experience:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as an Director or similar position
- Strong background in strategic planning, business development, staff leadership and operations management
- Experience or knowledge of Animal Welfare
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive organizational success
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Grant writing skills
- Experience in managing budgets and financial resources
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies is highly desirable
- knowledgeable of labor laws, state and federal policies as they apply to nonprofit organizations
- Degree in Public Policy and Nonprofit Management a plus
