The Director - National Sales and Business Development (BESS) works with cross functional teams at Stryten to monitor industry trends in energy storage and will develop a process for tracking our competitor, partner and customer opportunities including B2B and B2G.
A strong network within the green energy industry coupled with strong analytical skills and the ability to articulate both verbally and in written form will enable the Sales and Business Development Leader to influence the short term approach to generating revenue from existing products while simultaneously influencing the development priorities for the Essential Power products as we develop new products and technologies that will be properly positioned to address the areas identified by Product Management and others on the team.
The Director - National Sales and Business Development's primary role will be to drive the Engineered to Order (ETO) Sales delivery cycle for all Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technologies. The person will identify customers and mature the relationships to determine capability of Stryten products with customer needs, initiate customer/site specific design activities, prepare cost estimates and deliver/negotiate quotes, close the deals through negotiation and final receipt of customer purchase order, work with internal teams and follow project through final siting and commissioning helping resolve commercial and technical issues when necessary. Primary goal is to maximize number of annual Stryten built BESS deployments and ultimately total revenue from such.
The Director - National Sales and Business Development will provide thought leadership through attendance and occasional presentations at conferences and through participation in consortia or industry groups. The ability to gather information from a wide variety of disparate sources and assimilate it into a cohesive, revenue generating plan and profitable business model(s), is a key attribute to success in this role.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions. Salary range for this role is: $145,000 - $170,000 per year. Strong candidates will come from clean energy sector with battery sales experience.
ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty under the guidance of the appropriate supervisor and/or independently. Essential duties include the following: other duties may be assigned.
- Prospect, identify, qualify, target, sell, and visit potential customers ready for an application specific BESS
- Serve as the primary contact to existing and new customers by providing personal sales visits, resolving issues, and communicating information
- Support customer in defining and justifying the purchase of a BESS system
- Negotiate pricing and contracts that range from one-time capital purchase to more service-like arrangements such are Power Purchase Agreements (PPA)
- Secure the sell, and support delivery efforts through the end of the project
- Develop internal teams and processes, and manage same so as to systematize the BESS ETO Sales Cycle, and to assure that cross-functional Stryten teams/tools are utilized to recognize revenue, track costs, forecast material, and drive manufacturing
- Utilize and continue to build on an existing network of contacts in the green energy industry (renewable generation, energy storage, recycling) including extensive experience working with industry associations, private, public, and not for profit corporations and directly with the government through the department of defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE) and a variety of labs such as Argonne, NREL, Oakridge and Sandia.
- Gather information from a wide variety of often disparate sources, analyze and present the information in a meaningful and well-organized fashion.
- Provide guidance to the Essential Power Group on opportunities for our existing products and services.
- Anticipate future opportunities for existing products and new products with demonstrable backup analysis and confidence rankings.
- Have strong computer skills with an ability to select appropriate tools to use for the task and to create and manage the entry and analysis of information within those tools.
- Contribute to new product roadmaps through anticipation of market trends and sizes and be able to articulate and quantify the reasons for the suggestions.
- Work with internal Stryten Product Management team to Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Essential Power competitors and articulate our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with respect to those competitors
- Assist to control working capital, including overdue accounts receivables.
- Operate within an acceptable sales-to-expense ratio
- Forecast and track sales activity for assigned accounts
- Complete projects and reports in a timely fashion
- Monitor new technology and industry trends for opportunities and threats
- Recognize opportunities for acquisition, licensing, funding or partnerships
- Make oral and written presentations

Education, Experience, Certifications:
- Strong candidates will come from clean energy sector with battery sales experience.
- Strong analytical business skills
- Strong technical understanding of energy generation and storage
- Experience with Business Development and M&A
- Moderate to strong understanding of Military and/or Government procurement
- University degree in Business, with MBA preferred
- Technical degree with minor in business will also be considered if coupled with a high level of business experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in the energy industry is preferred
