The Opportunity

As a dedicated Director of Media and Social, you will direct, design and implement highly complex, multichannel media plans for USAA across channels including, but not limited to TV, social, digital (online video, search, display, online radio), radio and print. Responsible for leading and developing a team of Marketing professionals that plan and execute media investments in order to deliver upon our strategic and operational priorities. Serves external media needs corporate-wide for USAA to ensure completion of the marketing strategy through the development and implementation of media planning, buying, campaign optimization and channel management.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance IS available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Directs the development and execution of highly complex, multi-channel media strategies, working with a broad spectrum of media to ensure marketing strategies are integrated.
  • Responsible for building and managing a high performing team, including individual development, performance management, training, development, and coaching.
  • Presents and communicates media & social strategies, plans and executions to executive partners and stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Leads, influences, and collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure all deliverables fulfill requirements.
  • Leads team to translate and interpret business intelligence and internal client objectives to guide media agencies and enable them to develop media strategies that support business objectives.
  • Oversees and monitors highly complex budget plans.
  • Applies an expert understanding of analytics and measurement tools/techniques to provide media strategy support to brand and product line marketing management.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 or more years of progressive related experience in a marketing, sales, advertising and/or communications function, to include at least 6 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: social marketing, digital marketing, website merchandising, search marketing, mobile marketing, or digital campaign management.
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a comprehensive paid media plan, including internal team and external media agency oversight.
  • Expert knowledge of traditional and emerging media leveraged across a broad array of marketing initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals required.
  • Expert-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.
  • Knowledge of federal laws, rules, and regulations to include: UDAAP, FED Regulation B (ECOA), FED Nondiscrimination, FED Discriminatory Conduct (FHA), FED_FTC Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices (UDAP), FED_FHA, Model Risk Management.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $120,550 - $230,400.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
