PeaceHealth is seeking a Director Health Information Administration (Remote) for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $53.54 – $80.30. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

*Must live in Oregon, Washington, Texas or Alaska.*

Leads and directs Health Information management operations across the system; striving for compliance, data integrity, and promoting best practice. Leads and maintains accountability for the overall administration and management of assigned functional areas in the HIM division for both the acute care and the provider clinic business units. Functional areas include release of information, electronic patient record (Epic Care Connect), chart corrections, master patient index, (duplicates and patient overlays), provider and ancillary documentation completion, CareConnect SER, transcription support, HIM analytics reports, HIM business process analysts and document management. Develops long and short-term business strategies, operational plans and oversees implementation. Manages the design, structure, development and planning issues. Responsible for quality, service and regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility.

Position Details:

  • Provides leadership for operational effectiveness, personnel management, fiscal accountability and positive relations with other departments.
  • Directs the organization’s enterprise and ambulatory data integrity teams and coordinates the correction of data concerns in the her, ensuring correction to support safe patient care and accuracy of information.
  • Collaborates with experts and stakeholders for policy design and implementation of standard processes which are in alignment with data governance, regulatory requirements, and state and federal laws. Coordinates technology and e-health record needs with IST, Epic representatives, and other HIM leaders responsible for the organization and integrity of the health record.
  • Provides leadership for operational effectiveness, personnel management, fiscal accountability and positive relations with other departments. Maintains service levels and develops quality and performance indicators, data analysis. Ensures continuous improvement to optimize services and stewardship of resources.
  • Develops annual departmental objectives including goals and strategies. Creates and monitors infrastructure, systems, processes and standards to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Directs recruitment, training, development and evaluation of staff. Supports credentialed and supervisory staff in their continuing education efforts and encourages and provides continuing education for caregivers.
  • Develops, implements and monitors operating and capital budgets. Educates caregivers about financial goals and objectives.
  • Ensures the presence of an on-going quality improvement program and champions the continuous improvement process.
  • Leads operational implementation for network and system projects. Initiates, reviews, implements, and maintains contracts with vendors for HIM Services, internal and affiliates.
  • Develops, maintains, implements and enforces policies and procedures; evaluates and improves the effectiveness of policies and procedures and workflow. Serves as an internal consultant on Health Information management issues.
  • Develops and presents business proposals, cost/benefit analysis, and contracts for the region and system. Initiates and reviews, implementation of contracts with vendors for HIM services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, Health Records Administration or related field OR a combination of education and professional experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant HIM experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years related management experience required.
  • Experience in project management required.
  • Experience with Health Information systems and healthcare applications required.
  • Experience with regulations and accreditation standards, knowledge of specific state and federal requirements and standards related to the management of Health Information required.
  • Expertise in healthcare compliance: knowledge of privacy and security regulations, confidentiality, laws, access and release of information practices required.
  • Prior experience as HIM director in an acute care or multi-hospital health system preferred.
  • Strong experience with computerization and technology advance in HIM with heavy emphasis on the electronic patient record preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Technician required.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator preferred.
  • Certified Health Data Analyst preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with managing geographically diverse teams. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and team facilitation, interpersonal, negotiating, and problem-solving skills. (Required)
  • Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making skills. (Required)
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, with an emphasis in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and knowledge of SharePoint and Visio. Experience with databases, web design, and project management applications. Working knowledge of current office technology and equipment. (Required)
  • Proficiency in standard software programs, i.e. MS Access, SQL Server, Crystal Reports, and Visual Basic, Word, Excel, Windows, SharePoint, and Dashboard tools. (Required)
  • Proven ability to develop, analyze, interpret data and develop reports. (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
