Job description

Position Summary:

The Director, Health Economics will participate as a thought leader in the development of Equality Health’s care model strategy and will provide needed analytics to support the development of new or optimized care model interventions to be deployed through Equality Health’s network. Working closely with leadership in Product, Clinical Operations, and Data and Intelligence, the Director will analyze available data from a variety of sources (claims, clinical, etc.) to inform the organization’s decisions around clinical program development and scaling, incentive design, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Equality Health’s data ecosystem, including payer claims data, HEDIS, data from practice EHRs, clinical data from HIEs and other aggregators, and data from the organization’s population health tool.

  • Review cost and quality performance trends to identify key areas of care model intervention

  • Build and maintain robust analysis to measure the efficacy of existing care model interventions, incentive programs, etc.

  • Contribute to the development of business cases for new or optimized care model interventions, incentive programs, etc.

  • Partner with informatics resources across the organization to build a community of practice associated with data analysis (best practices for SQL development, code review, etc.)

  • Support ad hoc analysis as requested by Product, Clinical Operations, etc.

Required Knowledge, Education, & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in data management and analysis

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience analyzing healthcare data, with particular emphasis on claims and clinical data.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and automate reports via SQL, Excel and Access

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders to scope problems that may not be well-defined or articulated.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and exceptional follow-through

  • Proven ability to self-direct day-to-day work with high-level direction

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based technologies

Highly Preferred Skills, Abilities, & Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop clearly defined plans of action including deliverables, milestones, and a formal tracking process.

  • Proven ability to use data to influence organizational decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information in alignment with HIPAA.

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
