Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Director, Global Payroll Operations leads NBCUniversal's day-to-day Global Payroll Operations function. The Director drives process execution to ensure effective and efficient service delivery through timely and accurate payments, distributions, and withholdings. Ensures the Global Payroll operations function support compliance with local payroll regulations and collective bargaining agreements. Lead Global Payroll functions outside of the US, such as Puerto Rico and Canada. This position also serves to ensure accountability from the Payroll Operations team for accurate data and metrics for reporting, auditing, and monitoring purposes. This position also serves to support and coach the Global Payroll Operations team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage execution of NBCU Global Payroll utilizing SAP HCM Payroll and TimeKeeper (TK)
  • Manage the preparation and dissemination of weekly and bi-weekly multi-state payroll for 40,000 union and non-union employees
  • Manage Global Payroll Operations in Puerto Rico and Canada
  • Ensure payroll processing of new hires, temporary workers, and terminations are accurate and timely
  • Communicate actively with Operations, HR, and Finance to review cross-departmental impacts of the payroll process and financial posting
  • Ensure all applicable federal, state, and local taxes, garnishments, employee benefit contributions, union dues etc. are properly withheld
  • Serve as liaison with other departments in the resolution of payroll issues
  • Partner with HR and Benefits in aligning and implementing ongoing process improvement and best practices for payroll and benefits
  • Manage and act as subject matter expert for all payroll related systems specifically SAP Payroll, and the time and labor (TimeKeeper) systems
  • Perform payroll systems monitoring and auditing as required
  • Support management of mapping and automatic feed of payroll general ledger accounts such as taxes, child support, levies, garnishments, employee benefits contributions, etc.
  • Lead team in providing quality service to the department and organization
  • Ensure that the operational activities and team indicators of the team meet the expectations of the department and organizational strategic initiatives
  • Work with Sr. Director to oversee the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of special projects
  • Promote adequacy of staffing and services for identified and assigned populations
  • Manage direct reports of staff within the department to accomplish results through on-boarding, training, development, performance management, and recognition
  • Facilitate technology resources and tools to engage the team to work efficiently and accurately
  • Coach and mentor staff; assist in difficult situations when needed
  • Identify opportunities to standardize and/or create efficiencies of the delivery of services
  • Promote collaboration with all disciplines and improve communication and collaborative process
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Global Payroll Operations

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing payroll teams within large multi-state companies, including responsibility for and in-depth functional knowledge of payroll, time keeping systems, internal/external audits, issue resolution, garnishments and research of payroll and wage/hour requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience required with demonstrated ability to develop and mentor staff at varying levels of experience
  • Experience with Puerto Rico and Canadian Payroll Operations and pay practices
  • Experience with SAP Payroll or equivalent ERP based payroll systems

Desired Characteristics:

  • Possess extensive experience/knowledge in all aspects of payroll management including day-to-day operations oversight, payroll and GL accounting, process reengineering, project management, payroll tax, deferred compensation plans, benefit and pension plans, unions, internal/external audit, SOX compliance and understanding of multiple hours-to-gross gross-to-net applications
  • Experience with International Payroll Process with internal payroll system and 3rd party vendors
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of Payroll principles, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of FLSA and Wage & Hour laws and time reporting policies
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to customer service and ability to work in team-oriented environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in Orlando, FL or Universal City, CA
  • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
